How do you know they're preselects?Anonymous User wrote:Just outside of top 1/3, got 16, including 10 of my top eleven (missed 9), a few in the high teens, and then a few preselects in secondaries that i bid very low.

Re: Georgetown - EIW 2015
Extremely disappointed with how things turned out. I got 17 interviews, but it looks like a lot of preselects from my lower-ranked firms (9 of bottom 20) bumped out the firms I really wanted (only got 1 of top 5, 2 of top 10).
Guess I'll have to do some backchanneling and let them know I got GLJ...

They're firms that get bid pretty heavily and are below 30.TheSpanishMain wrote:How do you know they're preselects?Anonymous User wrote:Just outside of top 1/3, got 16, including 10 of my top eleven (missed 9), a few in the high teens, and then a few preselects in secondaries that i bid very low.

Got firms I wanted (7 out of my top 10) but only got 10 firms total! Yikes.

Does it seem like this year has less interviews on average than last year?

I'm booked full August 10th and 11th, but only one on the 12th. Got 12 total; 1-6, 8-10, 12-13, 24.barkschool wrote:Even spread through 3 days?

I have 8 on the 11th...odds of me burning out before noon are depressingly high.

When emailing firms we didn't get screeners with, do we need a resume/transcript/cover letter combo or is just a resume sufficient?

Top 5%. Got 16/30 interviews. Happy I didn't go with 50 bids; I got quite a few interviews from lower ranked firms on my list i assume were preselects.

It does seem like many more people had 18 last year.

I have 9 on Tuesday. The odds of me mixing up firms at least once are about 99.99%.

Re: Georgetown - EIW 2015
Scored 11 all in, 2 of which are OCS fuckups* and auto-cancels, so I'm feeling righteously fucked with 9 screeners.
*First one was a bid that OCS promised to rescind after a pre-oci interview came through immediately after bidding closed. Needless to say, they failed to follow through, so i wasted a top bid and missed out on most everything ranked #6 or lower.
**Second one is an interview assigned to the wrong city. Double and triple checked my bid list to avoid exactly that, so I have a bad feeling OCS was doing some hand tweaking and made a royal mess. It's cool, not like there are any suicide-inducing consequences or anything.
EDITED TO ADD: the big formatted thing we're supposed to be using.
Approximate class rank: top 33%
Journal: ACLR
Moot Court, Beaudry, etc.: no
IP backbround: no
Significant work experience: yes
Years out of undergrad: 2+
Prestigious undergrad: no
Other relevant factors: strong experience in one industry
Target markets: DC
Type of work sought: Regulatory / Lit
Self-assessed interviewing ability: good+
Screeners or callbacks prior to EIW from mass-mailing: 3 (2 in advance; 1 after EIW)
Screeners received for EIW: 9 (initially 11, but see above)
Callbacks received from EIW screeners: forthcoming
Offers received from EIW: waiting on 1 cb response now
Identifying handle: Sheba

Grabbed this from last year's thread, may be helpful:
Approximate class rank: (top 10%, top 15%, top 33%, above median, median, below median)
Journal: (which one)
Moot Court, Beaudry, etc.: (which one/s)
IP backbround: Yes/No
Significant work experience: (broadly defined as anything relevant to corporate America/business/finance/accounting/tax/paralegal/etc.) Yes/No is enough
Years out of undergrad: (if more than 2, just 2+ is fine to prevent outing)
Prestigious undergrad: Yes/No/Locally
Other relevant factors (e.g., URM, LBGT, age/prior life experience, military):
Target markets:
Type of work sought: Corporate/Litigation/Doesn't matter
Self-assessed interviewing ability: (great/good/normal/below normal/far below normal)
Screeners or callbacks prior to EIW from mass-mailing: (if yes, how many, what type of firm, etc.)
Screeners received for EIW: (just the number)
Callbacks received from EIW screeners: (just the number, and if you would, Vault ranking if applicable, i.e., V25, V50, and two non-Vault firms; market/city if comfortable listing)
Offers received from EIW: (just the number, and if you would, Vault ranking if applicable, i.e., V25, V50, and two non-Vault firms; market/city if comfortable listing)

Re: Georgetown - EIW 2015
Got 18 but I definitely should've taken the advice to not use all my bids. Got one firm that I bid 47th on and another 26th so I assume those are my preselects. Very NY-heavy list so I guess it's time to MM the ones I didn't get from DC. Probably should've been more aggressive.

In last year's thread, people said some firms they didn't get emailed them to schedule an interview--when would emails like that typically go out? Today? Tomorrow?

Re: Georgetown - EIW 2015
I can confirm that one V10 firm's DC office has already sent out emails to people who didn't quite make the EIW cut about scheduling extra interviews. I plan on contacting all of the high ones I've missed out on today, I'd rather be proactive than wait and see who emails me first.

Re: Georgetown - EIW 2015
No need for a transcript. If you bid them then they have it already. A cover letter seems unnecessary, but a current resume (with updated rankings or journal info) couldn't hurt. Worst case if you're paranoid about it attach an electronic version of your transcript anyway - it doesn't hurt anything.Coelum wrote:Same question here.Anonymous User wrote:When emailing firms we didn't get screeners with, do we need a resume/transcript/cover letter combo or is just a resume sufficient?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
