They typically don't participate in OCI, strictly speaking. But from what I hear, they do contact the career services office, ask for the best X number of students, and extend screener invites to them. Sometimes one of those top-of-the-class types get an offer.

I can confirm that this happened at UVA this year, and that at least one UVA 2L got an offer (but turned it down). (Not me)
