Email. I've heard a couple firms are still in the 20th century and snail mail it tho.
I kinda wish the firms that aren't calling back yet would just go ahead and e-mail ding me, I understand you want to soften the blow but a delayed snail mail letter is just annoying to wait for / I don't want to think I have a chance when I don't.

Anecdotally though, people have told me that they have heard back ridiculously late (like 1 week after screener) at some places too (and landed an offer). At good firms too.
Depending on the firm's system and the decisionmakers' schedules, it can take even longer. A friend who graduated last year told me he got a callback a full month after the screener.

Is it just me, or have a lot of firms still not made any calls? Haven't heard about people hearing back from MoFo, K&E, Covington, etc.

I was told that LA offices can take longer because they have to fly home. But I also overheard that some LA offices held dinners last week for promising candidates.

Most large NY firms pounce within 24 hours if they want to give you a callback. If you get silence, then it is appropriate after ONE WEEK (or more) to send a letter to the partner/associate you interviewed with and say, "I am writing to reaffirm my strong interest in..." if you are truly very interested. (I got 3-4 more callbacks this way.)

tl/dr: HALF of callbacks will have gone out by the end of today.
So at what point should i be worried if i have only 0-1 cbs
if you don't have 3-4 by end of business Monday, I would really encourage getting in touch with OCS. You should also be mass mailing all weekend

Can you say more about this? Who should we be mass-mailing, the firms who didn't come to EIW? In the OCS Handbook, they say,

"You may supplement your EIW interviews with a mailing to those firms you selected for your final EIW list, but with whom you were not granted an EIW interview. The mailing should take place either just before or after EIW. All employers on which you bid will have access to your resume if you confirmed your interest (opted-in) on the waitlist."

Mass mail all the firms until you have a job. Prioritize firms who came to EIW but you didn't get a slot with. Then move on to all the rest. You want to at least cover the NLJ 250, & relevant satellite offices in your secondary market(s), before you start looking at other angles. http://www.ilrg.com/nlj250

To anyone that's done a callback, do the four or so interviews you do at a callback differ substantially from the EIW interviews? Do they ask substantive legal questions?

Mine had very similar questions to the screeners, just a little longer. They know you don't really know anything.

firms differ. one firm threw a fact pattern on my friend. :S
knowing that, i don't think there's anything to do differently in terms of preparation. just don't be surprised of anything!

How long should you wait before you follow up with the firms that didn't ding you but didn't CB you?

I think it is apparently, some guy a couple pages back said if you have silence then after "A WEEK" (he capitalized that), you should send an email reaffirming you're still interested. Claims he got 3-4 more callbacks that way last year.

I imagine it would be a good idea because I am hoping a lot of this is rolling, so as people drop callbacks/ get dinged at callbacks/ take other offers the firms dip into the second string candidates (like me) who didn't get the next day CB's. If last year's thread is any indication people are still getting first Callbacks (not offers from callbacks) up through this week and next week.

So hope is not lost, and if I don't have an actual ding by Friday I'm sending out emails. Might contact OCS first tho

Has anybody had their language skills tested during a callback?

I know multiple people whose language skills were tested during screeners.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
