It's been 2 weeks since I applied to dc and I've only got the generic thanks for applying thing. Does this mean a cb is unlikely since most ppl heard super quick

I also haven't heard anything back from DC (applied last week) and I'm top 5% at CCN with substantial work experience. Not an auto-offer but would be surprised if I didn't at least get the chance to interview.Anonymous User wrote:It's been 2 weeks since I applied to dc and I've only got the generic thanks for applying thing. Since we're griping, I'm top 5% at mvpdnc with no word from SF, not even a thanks for applying email. I'm top 1/4 MVP, sent apps to NY and DC offices about a week ago. Heard back from the DC office within hours ("Thanks, we'll be be contacting you shortly") but still nothing from NY.Anonymous User wrote:I also haven't heard anything back from DC (applied last week) and I'm top 5% at CCN with substantial work experience. Slacks and a button down. No suit, no tie. But, I too went for the shoes. Got an offer three days later. The only way your clothing matters is if it's inappropriate. To them, that's likely to mean jeans, sneakers, shorts, or a t-shirt. Because of the atmosphere, you might be more comfortable if you're not the only one wearing a nice suit, but perhaps that's just me.Anonymous User wrote:Those who've had cbs- did you wear a suit? Got an offer.
Just FYI for anyone waiting for a callback:
I've also had numerous friends who have gotten offers from QE and the waiting time post-callback seems to be a standard two days.

Top ~20% at CCN and also no word from SF and SV, not even thanks for applying (I applied early last week). Maybe all the recruiting people are on vacation.Anonymous User wrote: Since we're griping, I'm top 5% at mvpdnc with no word from SF, not even a thanks for applying email. Applied 3 weeks ago.

Re: Quinn Emanuel Hiring Timeline
for those that haven't heard anything, look at your resume. Did you attend HS on Long Island and they NYU undergrad, and are now at Columbia Law? If your background screams 'northeasterner', any firm on the left coast is going to assume that the chances of you leaving the NE are between slim and none. (Particularly if top third at CLS.) Why would they waste any early trip and expense on a really low-yield candidate? (There are plenty of California residents attending the T14 OOS who would love to return.)

Although seeing as their largest office is in NYC, and a good chunk of the people in this thread are applying to that office, they're probably not adverse to that crowd.Big Dog wrote:for those that haven't heard anything, look at your resume. At least one person itt has had a callback in SF, so the recruiters there must have at least read and responded to one email (presumably more). Maybe they are holding off on the people who put both offices for some reason?
Has anyone who applied to SF/SV got the "thanks for applying" email? They may skip that altogether.
Edit: and @BigDog. What prompted such outlandish speculation? Were you expecting us to be like, "Omg look at where I grew up!?! I never considered that! No one has ever told me before that firms like people who they think are attached to their city. Thank you for such brilliant insight!!"

I submitted for SV, got a response asking to confirm that SV is my preference. I said yup, they then sent the "thanks for applying ... few weeks" e-mail.Anonymous User wrote:First anon here.Anonymous User wrote:Top ~20% at CCN and also no word from SF and SV, not even thanks for applying (I applied early last week). For those of you who've done CBs, what is your general feeling about the purpose of the CB? I.e., was it more of a 'you're above our cutoff so we're just psycho-screening you' sort of CB, or a 'you still have to convince us you deserve this job' sort of CB? Specifically looking for info about the NY office.

One associate told me I was pretty much guaranteed an offer so long as I didn't do anything stupid. Seem interested and knowledgable about the firm and lively, but don't think you have to sell your intellect or anything. Your resume and transcript have already taken care of that.
Communicate now with those who not only know what a legal education is, but can offer you worthy advice and commentary as you complete the three most educational, yet challenging years of your law related post graduate life.

I'd recommend having a bunch of questions about the firm ready, because other than asking a few questions about my summer job, why law and why Quinn, my interviewers mostly just wanted to answer any questions I had.
I also would've felt really awkward wearing a suit, as some of my interviewers were just wearing shorts and a t-shirt.

all of the above. definitely don't wear a suit, follow the instructions. Be really interested in the firm but give them opportunities to sell to you. Quinn is different in a lot of ways, aggressive, and they're really proud of it. Have plenty of questions that give them the opportunity to talk about this. Then all you have to do is agree and their enthusiasm for the firm = your enthusiasm for the firm.Anonymous User wrote:+1Anonymous User wrote:you're above our cutoff so we're just psycho-screening youAnonymous User wrote:For those of you who've done CBs, what is your general feeling about the purpose of the CB? Any movement whatsoever (cb, offer, anything?) from the ny office in the past week or does it look like nothing until after the long weekend?
