Hey Guys,

I think we're just worrying about minutae when it comes to cover lists (emphasis on l"list" and not "letter"). I'm, sure that what most of us did (#11,#1, #3...) was good enouggh. Remember that with estimated 1500 resumes to sift through, they don't wanna bother with reading CL's. As for how to download it, most of my friends just made it the 2nd page to their resume PDF.

All said, though, I'm locked only into NYC, so feel free to ignore me........

Also on the webcast this year they remarked that registrationes were down and bid slots were up.

that is interesting ... did they comment on the numbers?

I'd also like to know........ btw, where on the web did you see this?? Do ya think that there are just fewere patbar eligible people this year? How does that jive with bids being up?

Listen to the webcast. They emailed a link to it to the email you signed up with.

Registrations are down = fewer students attending PLIP (edit: actually means fewer students REGISTERED for PLIP, which is different than fewer attending).
BId slots are up = more employers attending / more bidding options.

I bid a bunch of diff offices where they said bid each office you're interested. I'm only interested in three markets though.

Dare we hope that this is a good sign of better odds for those of us already registered? or that regs are down because past expereinces make PLIP seem a futile effort?

Can anyone speak to getting interviews/CBs/offers at out of market firms from regional T1?

Top 5% at regional T1 (Fall semester grades only so just estimating)
B.S. Chem
1L SA at NYC/Chi/DC IP boutique
5+ yrs as chemist at BigPharma

With a few exceptions, I'm tempted to NOT bid my school's market firms at PLIP because I am fairly certain I will get screeners with them at my school's OCI.

Probably too late now, but for future reference - I talked to several people that bid firms that were both coming to OCIs or local IP job fairs. They were usually told they would have a spot at X. Apply, its not going to dilute your chance.

Right, I wouldn't assume anything if you get dinged at Loyola and they are coming to either OCIs or locals. Continue to apply, always continue to apply.

Problem is that I've got only one market (NYC). With my family connections, I'm born, raised and will probably die there.
I envy you guys with the ability to move to other markets. Love CA, also like DC.

Actually, NYC is small when it comes to IP, which seems centralized around either DC or CA. At NYC, if I go IP, I've gotta go IP-LIT.

IF you are pharma/bio NYC seems to be alright. But if you are CS/EE, it's not that big at all.

I think you can sell Silicon Valley and DC on just wanting to work there. Bay Area is hard as fuck in general, but it's the NYC of the tech world. You still have to sell yourself, but they aren't as bad about believe it.

My problem is that I'm BSME....... low man on the IP totem pole.....anywhere. So I think my best bet is to sell IP-LIT with possible interest in IP-PROS. However, don't these firms want us to commit to either LIT or PROS at the get-go?

I bid CA heavy but also burned a bunch on TX. I have no ties at all lol hoping T10 + good grades gets me a chance at that TX CoL

I like the Bay Area but my ties are to DC... if I get an interview w/ a DC firm, is it worth saying that I have an interest in their SF/SV/PA office? or is the prudent thing to just tell them "only DC"?

Not an expert, but from what I've read, sell your interest in one city, and don't mention others really

So for people that received emails from PLIP all day today soliciting for "extra" bids due to technical background. Does that indicate that those employers did not receive enough bids from candidates? If so, that is a good sign right?
