Re: Quinn Emanuel?
For those who have received a NY offer in the last week or so, or know of someone who has, how long was the CB --> offer turnaround?

For those who received offers already, what did you think of Urquhart's email of last week?

I, too, am wondering about the source of this information. I know for a fact that QE's post-SA offer rate in two of their offices was 100%. Where did you see/hear about the "very low" post-SA offer rate?Anonymous User wrote:Post-SAAnonymous User wrote:What do you mean? Which two offices? I assumed QE extended offers to all of their summer associates this year, as they did in 2011.Anonymous User wrote:I, too, am wondering about the source of this information. Re: Quinn Emanuel?
As a person above mentioned, two offices in CA definitely offered all the summers (Source: ATL). I believe all the summers got offers.

Re: Quinn Emanuel?
Any former SF summer/1st year associates have anything to offer about their experience at the firm. I hear "insane" hours but how does that really stack up to other big law firms? Does the compensation make up for it all?
If people leave the firm, where do they go?

Bump. Also, follow-up, does Quinn do any additional compensation for the alleged "insane" hours? I know their profits per partner are almost Wachtell status now.Anonymous User wrote:Any former SF summer/1st year associates have anything to offer about their experience at the firm. They paid spring bonuses this year and their bonus scales with hours.Anonymous User wrote:does Quinn do any additional compensation for the alleged "insane" hours? I know their profits per partner are almost Wachtell status now.
The pay, however, is not anywhere close to Wachtell levels. They do have >2x more associates than Wachtell does though.

Re: Quinn Emanuel?
Thanks for that information. Its a really tough call because I (personally) find things I like about Quinn but this "Sweatshop/insane asylum" rhetoric freaks me out.Anonymous User wrote:They paid spring bonuses this year and their bonus scales with hours.Anonymous User wrote:does Quinn do any additional compensation for the alleged "insane" hours? Re: Quinn Emanuel?
"insane" hours means roughly 200 billables per month expectation. see eg http://abovethelaw.com/2012/04/how-many ... -are-busy/ . this seems in line with top ny firms but a notch higher than other firms in the bay area. some people work way more than that (esp patent litigators working on samsung stuff) but others manage less hours. i believe the minimum yearly to hit cravath bonuses is 2100 which is also the official expectation of the firm (the 2400 figure can be seen as the average expectation rather than the minimum expectation).Anonymous User wrote:Any former SF summer/1st year associates have anything to offer about their experience at the firm. on the other hand, it is pure litigation so the hours are a bit easier to come by vs corporate, and quinn does not have as much non-billable psuedo-requirements (ex pro-bono). also, the partners do not seem to care that much about "face time" so you can bill some hours from home.
the whole "sweatshop" thing partially derives from the less-than-fancy offices, low support staff, and whatnot. you have to decide whether or not that is important to you. i think it kinda goes hand-in-hand with the informal dress code, lack of hierarchy etc.

How are exit options at this firm? In terms of prestige, what other law firm besides boies is comparable?
