FWIW, Honors Program interviews just started yesterday and are being conducted through Nov. 5. Since Honors Program interviews/offers are usually completed before SLIP, there might be radio silence for a while - though obviously this will vary from division to division and section to section.

While I don't doubt the truth of this statement, I do find it interesting. Is there a reason why honors people would be hired before SLIP people, or is that just the way it is?Anonymous User wrote:FWIW, Honors Program interviews just started yesterday and are being conducted through Nov. 5. Re: DOJ SLIP 2010
That's just how it's been done in prior years. I imagine is the offices want to make sure they have sufficient lawyer staffing set up for the following year before they worry about bringing in interns. Could be budgetary. But whatever the justification, that seems to be the practice norm.Anonymous User wrote:While I don't doubt the truth of this statement, I do find it interesting. Does anyone happen to have a link to past threads on here or another site that'd help us piece together SLIP offer timelines?

Re: DOJ SLIP 2010
The federal judge I am working for spoke with my interviewer this morning (judge told me). It is possible he called my two other references (at Securities and Exchange Commission and Public Counsel), but I am not sure of that because I have not yet checked with them.
Edit: Just confirmed interviewer also spoke with my former supervisor at SEC

Re: DOJ SLIP 2010
Since Civil Division doesn't do interviews, do they tend to decide earlier than other divisions? Since they've apparently chosen their finalists (or maybe they haven't chosen all of them...) what's keeping them from announcing their selections sooner than mid-November?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
