You mean if you just refuse to do work? That almost never happens. In general, if you're gunnerish enough to bother to go to law school, get decent grades, and do OCI, then your personality won't allow you to just blow off work. Some associates get there eventually, but it usually takes more than a year or so.Anonymous User wrote:Then what happen if you shirk?rpupkin wrote:Unless your firm or group is really slow, almost no one gets fired during the first couple of years. Re: Summer Associate Class of 2015
How did a thread for us current SA's turn into another "DF complains about Biglaw thread"?
Like 1/3 of this thread is DF posts, which is weird considering he was a SA like 5 or 6 years ago.
At least when other people like rpupkin comment they know their shit and provide helpful info. DF literally provides 0 useful information. You hate your job, we get it dude

With the exception of his insensitive equivocations of poor social skills with autism, a debilitating mental illness, DF is a nice and smart man eager to help others. Most of what he does is motivated by good will.

Has someone compiled a list of offers/no-offers from 2015? For some reason I can't find it, please help!

Re: Summer Associate Class of 2015
Was just about to accept my Katten offer.... and then I read this thread... I do have other offers (not Skadden tho lol), but really liked Katten the best. Is it that bad? I don't really care about the events, (even tho I've heard Katten's s/a events have been great, Lady Gaga concerts & all...) more the people.

Re: Summer Associate Class of 2015
All else being equal, I can see "the people" maybe being a tie breaker. But it would be pretty far down on my list of considerations.
I guess if a firm puts nothing but sucky people in front of you, that's potentially a red flag ("Is this really the best they've got?"). But finding like 6-10 people that seem cool shouldn't be that hard.
Basically "the people" is pretty easy to game in a positive way for the firm. In two years when you actually start working all or most of "the people" could easily be gone and/or act differently toward you.

If you've got a 100% firm I'd take that over Katten personally

Yeah, I was at a 100% firm and people were still so nervous. I cant imagine the stress being at a firm that's traditionally less than 98%.North wrote:If you've got a 100% firm I'd take that over Katten personally
