Any chance Cravath wants to relive its former glory days and slap an extra $10k on top of this??

Yeah this had to be intentional and I'm certain other firms will copy that playbook. As an associate leaving V20 to go in-house next month, I gave up hope a couple weeks ago.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 3:18 pmAnonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 3:13 pmGeneral mood?
Don’t have a broad sense of sentiment. I am amused by the extra ~3 weeks for it to go into effect in addition to the ~1 month delay from Milbank. Feels like someone who was involved was really keen on ensuring those leaving for in house or lateraling in the new year got none of that sweet, sweet additional coin.

I know, it used to ATL for quick-twitch / breaking news and then Law.com or American Lawyer for the deeper coverage. It seems that ATL doesn’t break news any longer and is focused mainly on useless trivia quizzes.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 3:27 pmStill nothing on abovethelaw. I was genuinely wondering which unlicensed jpg of a young person showering in cash they were going to use. Now that we know, I think we can close this thread. Nothing left to report.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 3:32 pmhttps://abovethelaw.com/2022/02/davis-polk-raise-2022/

We will always have the lobster jokes, dear thread.
As a senior ... I'm OK with this? Special bonuses always seemed unlikely and more is more. Would I like even more? Sure. But overall I'm looking at 10% more than I was expecting as of Jan. 1. That's nice!
I feel bad for juniors whose dreams of lobster were destroyed today, but I guess this is just an early lesson that law firms will never give you more than their view of the minimum.

What the hell was going on at DPW, that they waited four weeks to come up with give the classes of 2018 and up a 3% raise?!

Just a quick reminder that many associates are making less this year in real terms than they would have made last year. (And that’s before you factor in the lack of special bonuses.)
2022 (DPW) vs. 2021 scale (adj. for +7.5% inflation)
215k vs. 220k
225k vs. 231k
250k vs. 258k
293.5k vs. 295k
335k vs. 328k
360.5k vs. 355k
381k vs. 376k
396.5k vs. 392k

Hilariously weak. If I was Milbucks I'd re-raise just to assert dominance.

DPW should have quietly raised three weeks ago. This is just embarrassing.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 4:06 pmHilariously weak. If I was Milbucks I'd re-raise just to assert dominance.

predicting CSM to come over top. DPW made it too easy. Relatively cheap for a single office shop like Cravath. How many senior associates do they even have at this point?

What does DPW have against C/O 2021? First 202.5 and now this

Sure. But the point wasn’t to compare total comp (after all, I deliberate ignored the class-year progression / bump that everybody gets as a matter of course). It’s more at the paycheck level, like 2022 paycheck vs. 2021 H2 paycheck.

Not to rehash the thread about junior availability, but if I’m a junior, I’m now even more incentivized to wait to respond any weekend and late night items until 9-5 business hours and say “sorry, my current workload does not allow for me to help with this request.”flowersandsunshine wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 4:08 pmWhat does DPW have against C/O 2021? Honestly more people should do that anyway. Agree with this. There’s even recent precedent for CSM to do this, because they bypassed the stupid 202.5K BS that DPW introduced in favor of 205K when they matched last summer.DoveBodyWash wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 4:08 pmpredicting CSM to come over top. It should be 215 -> 225 -> 250 -> 300 -> 350 -> 375 -> 400 -> 425.DoveBodyWash wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 4:08 pmpredicting CSM to come over top. DPW made it too easy. Relatively cheap for a single office shop like Cravath. How many senior associates do they even have at this point?

Original lobster anon here. Am c/o 2017 so barely made the cut to still get the lobster option, but legitimately already missed the deadline so locked Into just the turf. May future generations stand atop my shoulders and get the surf and turf at their weddings, however.tlsthrowaway1306 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 3:39 pmWe will always have the lobster jokes, dear thread.

Yeah, I could see Cravath or another major player cleaning this up in its announcement along these lines.DoveBodyWash wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 4:08 pmpredicting CSM to come over top. Honestly any increases that at least get us back to round numbers would be great, the hair-splitting DPW's been doing is just weird.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
