So new V10 to include holland and knight and the Delaware 4 as a reward for their actions this year?

yeah i just feel bad for people at S&CCapitol_Idea wrote:Def Cravath. S&C people's lives are miserable enough as is.

I'm just hoping we can get White&Case into the V15 so my parents will be proud of me again.

White & Case makes more sense as a V55. Your parents can be proud of you for your scrappiness--it takes pride and guts to be successful at a TTT law firm like White & Case.Anonymous User wrote:I'm just hoping we can get White&Case into the V15 so my parents will be proud of me again.

This thread has been going on since July of last year and exceeds 80 pages. Hope springs eternal.
That said, it never ceases to amaze me that base salaries have stagnated for a decade. Although with the legal market softening this year, and with endless law students beating down the doors for BigLaw jobs, what incentive do firms have for increasing salaries?

Set your expectations low, and you'll never be disappointed.mvp99 wrote:Get out.Aeon wrote:This thread has been going on since July of last year and exceeds 80 pages. Hope springs eternal.

It would be great if base salaries were increased. People are graduating with ever-increasing debt loads, and COL continues to increase dramatically, especially in places like NYC (not to mention inflation generally). Bonuses have been doing some of the work in increasing people's effective compensation, yet they are too variable to be relied upon consistently. But there are some serious structural problems with BigLaw, so it's anyone's guess about what will happen with associate salaries.

This shortly follows Cravath's data breach, which would seem highly pertinent to the M&A group. Coincidence?

Focus, colleagues, focus.
Operation Vault Chaos:
(1) Tank Cravath to V50
(2) Boost firm that raised pay to 160k in secondary market into V5
(3) ?????
(4) Profit
What is our consensus firm for step (2)?

Nice. Perhaps if Paul, Weiss decreased its size from 900 to 8 attorneys, it would start paying first-years at $190K.Anonymous User wrote:http://abovethelaw.com/2016/04/ca-to-19 ... -salaries/

TBF Gunderson was pretty tiny when it moved the market to 125k. Don't remember how tiny so I'll assume it was also 8 lawyers. Buckle up folks.rpupkin wrote:Nice. Lunar Dove? That name is far too silly for a law firm that is expected to move the market.
Nothing to see here, unfortunately. Let me know when Payne & Fears goes to 190K and then we'll talk.

They're only that small because they paid just 160 and no one had heard of them so they chose more familiar options for the same pay. But now? 190k --> DROVES --> NYC to 190k

Indeed. Graduates will be coming in DROVES to DOVE.Tiago Splitter wrote:They're only that small because they paid just 160 and no one had heard of them so they chose more familiar options for the same pay. But now? 190k --> DROVES --> NYC to 190k
Call me crazy, but I can even see the firm DOUBLING its associate headcount—from two to four.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
