Everyone keeps saying that the economy is going to improve, and I agree. However, the problem to me appears to be that law school students really seem to have one shot at getting that first job that will open doors and that's during 2L OCI. Firms largely don't give a crap about 3Ls, regardless of whatever bad luck they may incur. So, even if the economy turns in the next couple of years what good does that do students from the class of 2011? Seems to me that we're screwed pretty badly.

FYI, initials aren't probably a concern with this guy. He already said his original law school, his current law school, his former profession, and a ton of identifying information. His social security number is probably somewhere in this thread.

unless you'll be happy practicing shitlaw, just drop out! law school is a means to an end and that end is making money and having a solid career. working for 45k/year and paying off 200k in debt isn't what you signed up for, so why just dig yourself deeper?
things aren't going to be better for awhile. the industry has fundamentally changed. you already missed the biglaw boat. and the economy does pick up firms will be hiring class of 08, 09, 10 CCNers who actually got some experience before being laid off.
fwiw, i don't think biglaw is everything and i can't imagine doing it for more than a few years. if you want to practice law then go ahead and continue but it seems like a very steep price to pay at ~60k/year+opportunity cost to do something you're not totally gung-ho about.
