Yeah, congrats!!!!
Are you going to NYC? When you get details, let the rest of us know.
Also another question - did you guys send in 1 rec or multiple? The interview e-mail asks for 1, but I noticed on some threads other people sending in multiple...don't really feel like getting more, but don't also want to be the one person with only 1 rec.

I think you only need to send in rec letters after you've been selected, not before.Sobriquet wrote:Yeah, congrats!!!!

Between my unimpressive gpa and my terribad interview I'll be shocked if I get an offer despite strong T14 results.

They don't care what your stats are, just what school you get into. Basically if you're attending Harvard, Columbia or NYU you're golden.

I'd be willing to bet that Yale would do too. Stanford is a tossup. Is that self-selection, or do they discriminate against the west coast?

self selection. I remember reading on LSD about stats from last yeardailygrind wrote:I'd be willing to bet that Yale would do too. Stanford is a tossup. Is that self-selection, or do they discriminate against the west coast?
AFAIK out of 50 slots for NYC 15 were from Harvard, 25 from NYU/Columbia and 5 from non t-14
Yale and Stanford won't hurt, but again, self selection is at play here b/c HNC are very biglaw oriented (and b/c they are bigger schools they will statistically have more minorities).

Re: SEO Corporate Law
Where are you getting your data from? Cause that doesn't jive at all with what Summertime posted over here http://top-law-schools.com/forums/viewt ... =2&t=50027
Assuming that what she collected was a representative sample (a big assumption I understand), the proportions you listed are totally different. Even if we did away with that assumption, your numbers leave room for 5 people who are from the t14 and not from HLS, CLS, or NYU, which doesn't work out either.

I think the data posted by summertimechi seems more probable than Catherine Morland's approximation, although I will admit I have no clue who Catherine Morland is, so...

Re: SEO Corporate Law
I would infer from her posts that she is an SEO alum and seeing as how they have an orientation, she might have better access to this information than we who are applying atm. Of course, she says "approx" which could mean her numbers are very rough estimates.
However, you get the general idea that they want T14 and the numbers imply a strong level of self-selection: those with interest in biglaw enough to move to NYC for a summer or those who will be attending school in NYC/east coast anyway.
At the end of the day, someone from the west-coast might not see the SEO program as worth the cost of moving to NYC and living there. Their salary may not be enough to make it monetarily worthwhile for those coming from far distances.

Re: SEO Corporate Law
Definitely. I get the sense from summertime's data that roughly half of the class is HLS, CLS, NYU, while Catherine Morland approximates that 2/3 of it is, so you can see the self selection either way. My preference is due to a personal opinion on the distribution of talent among the competing schools. I don't honestly think that 3 schools would so strongly dominate all the other schools, even if they are some of the best schools in the country.

For anyone who was still wondering about the start date, according to their e-mail there is a mandatory "orientation/training" for the corporate law internship in early June. I'm assuming that the actual internship would start shortly after that.

Meesa and anyone else who's already had their interviews, why do they ask that we bring a pen/paper? I just think it's random and doesn't fit what anyone in the past has described the interview as consisting of.
Note: I may just be reading too much into details and psyching myself out.

pen/paper is for the "case" part so that you can take notes as you read the article. for my part, i wrote maybe two phrases. the article's really short so i didn't really feel a need to write much/organize my thoughts.

For such a short interview (I think you said yours was like 15-20 minutes?), I'm surprised the article is long enough to require note-taking. Alright, deep breath, need to stop psyching myself out.

Re: SEO Corporate Law
I managed to pull my LSAC resume and printed it in the business center of my hotel. Hooray for the Hard Rock! I didn't experience a stress interview at all. It was super easy to be honest. The only place I failed was that I didn't really know much about the partner firms so anyone reading this, do that! =/
