This is correct. Nobody cares where you are (while we're all remote) if you do the work. Once we go back, I imagine a higher percent of firms than before won't care where you are EVER, as long as it doesnt hurt the work product.kovdak02 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 01, 2020 10:39 amPeople will be doing remote summers from all over the planet - their law school cities, their hometowns, and more. Go wherever you want and don’t worry about it. It’s good advice not to put the beach in your background or advertise to people where you are (though you very well may get asked where you are as a small talk pre-Zoom meeting thing, in which case don’t lie). And of course, don’t miss any work events or calls or whatever. But after 6:00 and on weekends you should be free as a summer in 95% of cases.

Crucial point. Definitely go and don't stress about it, but also don't tell anyone, including your fellow summers (and don't put it on social media, because some people do check in on that). As with most things, 95% of the attorneys couldn't care less, but until you know who the 5% are and whether they have any influence on hiring, stay on the safe side.M458 wrote: ↑Sun May 31, 2020 12:00 pmThis would be fine - don't publicize it, even among other summers. Just go about your normal workday and if there are Zoom meetings, pick some inconspicuous place so folks just think you're at home.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sat May 30, 2020 5:22 pmYeah sorry, I meant more just the fact that I wouldn’t be in the same physical location and it might be a bad look if someone were to find out (especially if it’s a known vacation spot). I obviously plan to be every bit as available as I would ordinarily be at home.BrainsyK wrote: ↑Sat May 30, 2020 2:56 pmThis is a bad idea even during a normal summer with full offer rates. There's 0 reason to be unavailable if you can be remote and 100% reason to be on-alert about your availability, work, and behavior this summer. Going anywhere is fine, but be sure that you always have your work phone (in an area where it gets signal) and can access stable WiFi on minutes notice. No SA work will be that important, but your ability to show your face when summoned will be.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sat May 30, 2020 2:28 pmThoughts of going out of town/on vacation for a few weekdays during a remote SA? Is there any chance that you will miss something or won't be able to do all the work while traveling if you plan to log on/be available during normal hours?

Along these lines, be careful what you post on social media period. Only one summer from my office was no-offered last year and that was due to social media posts.TexasBigLaw wrote: ↑Mon Jun 01, 2020 11:47 amCrucial point.
