Per Deana, SLIP comes later (early october).

Can someone tell me whether an arrest record would bar me from passing a background check to work at the DOJ/SEC as an honors intern? The arrest was in another state and the charge was dismissed. Didn't get it expunged yet, but at the time, I sent them a document that essentially exonerated me. A few months ago I did get a DOJ fingerprint response document that reported no incidents. So it didn't even show up on that. But obviously the government will do a more extensive background check. Anyone have, or know someone who has had a similar experience? Thanks.
Disclose. It looks like something minor, so it shouldn't hurt you on a background check (obviously depends on the severity of the charge). But if you don't mention it, they'll find out, and then they'll wonder what else you're trying to hide.

I would also disclose. I was an intern with a USAO and I had a misdemeanor on my record. The background check came through no problem, and I disclosed, so I wouldn't worry too much.

Thanks. FWIW it was a felony charge (my attorney at the time told me they normally overcharge). But how would I go about disclosing it? Of course if there are documents that ask about past incidents, or if they outright ask me I would disclose. But just calling them and telling them seems weird, no?

And for disclosure purposes here, I'm only in the interviewing stage, but just trying to be prepared.

If hired, you'll fill out a 100+ pg background check form (google SF-86). It asks for any prior criminal charges, including those that have been dismissed or expunged.
