Transfer here. Only thing I know is what I've read on here somewhere that we could/should hear before EIW.

Do you know another student from your school who is transferring?

Nope, I'm a current student. I was put on the MLR waitlist and I was hoping to get an idea of when I could expect an answer.

Just checking.

For everyone's sake, it would be a big help to know before EIW. So let's hope for that. I'm sure MLR is working on it. Good luck!

I did. Emailed and expressed enthusiasm. Very receptive responses. I know people say you can do this in person as well, but to me that seems like a huge hassle considering our crazy schedules.

Does anyone if there are any firms other than MoFo and Gibson Dunn that do dinner invites for CB candidates?

I think Schulte did them last year. Check previous years' threads if you're really curious.

I've been told no thank you after screener but email thank you after CB.

Someone posted in the Transfer thread that one of the journals sent out an invite this week.

I've heard that there have been some confirmed invitations for MoFo dinners. Supposedly they handed out the invitation at the end of the interview.

So, would it be wrong to assume that if you didn't hear anything from a biglaw firm already today (eg SullCrom, STB, Latham, etc etc) you're out of the running?

Yes, it would be wrong to assume that. Many big firms and big markets move quickly, but CB offers the day of interviews are the exception, not the rule. Unless you know for a fact that they've handed out CBs, they could still be discussing candidates or interviewing elsewhere before deciding who to call back. That said, 1-2 days after the interview is a very normal turn-around time in major markets (NY, DC, SF, LA, Chi).

In the meantime, focus on what you can control: the interviews you've still got in front of you. Good luck, y'all!

In case you guys are feeling in need of info of typical callback timing. Yes, if a firm does a dinner and you don't get an invite, that's generally not a good indication, although it doesn't mean they definitely won't give you a callback. And being invited to a dinner doesn't guarantee a callback. Once you've been invited to the dinner, it's a good idea to avoid saying anything stupid, and you should try to avoid being among the first to leave.

New York firms tend to offer callbacks within 48-72 hours (usually only longer if over a weekend). Chicago firms can take a week to get back to people sometimes. Some midwestern firms have been known to offer people a callback well over a week after the OCI interview. Don't worry if callbacks aren't tumbling into your laps quite yet.
