I'm a 2L who interviewed with four PD offices. I received two offers last week, and accepted Mecklenburg.
Can you PM me? Also accepted an offer with Mecklenburg (2L)!

Just got an email ding from BX (3L). I am actually shocked. I thought I killed my interview (and I'm not just arrogant, I can tell the difference between a good and a meh interview). At the same time, I figured actually getting the job was a long shot based on how many interns they have over summer that presumably get some kind of preference and how any people they actually hire.

Also dinged, super disappointed. Interviewer told me that they get 2,000-3,000 applications and make ~80 offers, so the competition is incredibly stiff (maybe 80 panel interviews, he was sort of ambiguous, but regardless the numbers are insane). I'm sure you did great, hard to say what any other candidate has heading in!

Anon who got dinged at BXD here, another NJ ding via email. At least I knew that that interview was sub-par. Interviewer just didn't seem to dig my answers. For people reading this in the future: My sense is that I should have toned down my "true believer" answers and emphasized my experience and strengths more (the opposite of my approach to other PD interviews).

Email ding from NH. I'm so disappointed and surprised. Is anyone else getting dinged from interviews they thought went really well? I'm at a T-20, above average grades, both summers PD, part time work at PD all of 2L and currently, Mock Trial, Moot Court, and consistent criminal related community service. I just don't know what else I could have done/can do to make myself competitive and I'm watching myself get shut out from every office. It's so frustrating.

3L who ended up getting a job as a PD but not through EJW from last year wanting to share some encouragement.

As responses start coming back, don't be afraid to keep on sending in apps to other state orgs / keep trolling the hiring page for respective PDs where you could see yourself working at least right out of law school.

I only ended up moving on with DPA (KY) from EJW after interviewing with Miami, Mecklenburg, BDS, and CO. Mecklenburg broke my heart as the guy was awesome.

DPA took a while (EJW --> CB in May --> Office interview with head atty --> Radio Silence even though they said I was their top choice).

I eventually ended up with a State PD in an office that I love. Just keep plugging at it and dont let these early rejections get you down.

Current Philly pd here, don't let dings discourage you..we all have those moments where we think the interview went amazing and didn't get the job..I thought I did awesome in my Miami first round but was dinged..I thought I made a fool of myself in my second Philly round and ended up getting a job here

Also heads up, Boston hires prebar but is never at ejw

NJ is sorta notorious for not being a true believer office, or at the least folks in charge.

Thank you (and to poster after you)! It's really encouraging to hear about people who "made it" in spite of some rejections.

Got a callback interview with the Defender Association of Philadelphia Child Advocacy Unit! So stoked! What should I expect? Difficult ethical hypos? Should I know my Evidence cold?

Got dinged by Pennsylvania Legal Aid Network (they employed me in a previous summer, so I guess they wanted to give first-timers a chance.)

Still waiting to hear back from Legal Aid of Southeastern Pennsylvania and Defender Association of Philadelphia.

Had a screener with the Defender Association of Philadelphia and still have not heard back. Do they silent ding people? Or should I expect an explicit ding via email?
