No Northwestern again? So, uh where are all the NU kids working this Summer? Do they just really hate NYC?

Does Deb even recruit at Nwestern? They didn't when I attended in 2013. They gave teh biggest tool in our class an offer and then he turned them down for Jenner Block. lol

Debevoise were at OCI, as I recall. I've heard of at least one offer extended this past cycle. And in terms of NU kids this summer in NYC, Cravath snapped up a bunch of them. Ultimately, maybe more kids decided to head to California after experiencing this past winter's weather?

Debevoise was unpopular at NU's OCI. Also (and this is anecdata) they seemed to be quite grade selective which did not work out for them at all.

I'm curious if irell is gonna be weird b/c a bunch of people just left.

Also 6 2L SAs for Latham in SD, not sure about other offices in CA. In a non CA Latham office and they didn't give firm wide numbers.

I'll add that Debevoise, in addition to not being a firm that was at the top of people's list, only had 20 screener spots, as opposed to the more typical 40-60 most of the NYC firms had. so they interviewed less people, who were less interested and were more selective = not a large or apparently existent NU yield. Largely anecdata but at the same time it seems fairly true.

This is odd because they have the most spots of any NY firm at our OCI and normally slots are really consistent between NU/UChi. Deb's yield is pretty dismal regardless for similar reasons though.

They typically don't participate in OCI, strictly speaking. But from what I hear, they do contact the career services office, ask for the best X number of students, and extend screener invites to them. Sometimes one of those top-of-the-class types get an offer.

I can confirm that this happened at UVA this year, and that at least one UVA 2L got an offer (but turned it down). (Not me)

Or if you want to live anywhere but new york or a firm that better fits your career interests e.g. williams & connolly, munger tolles, kellogg huber, susman godfrey. It just doesn't make much sense to take Davis, Cravath, ect. over Wachtell but that doesn't happen often.

It still can make sense to take those firms over Wachtell, for many reasons

There are only two people from UVA and both are counsel. Although I'm not contesting whether someone did in fact get an offer.
