Now that most people have their CBs scheduled and are off, information isn't really coming in frequently, which is a shame. I wish I knew how fast some of these firms moved, but I'm going with Donovan's advice that said "no news is good news".Anonymous User wrote:Has anyone heard anything from Texas?

How many callbacks do you all have at this point? I would be interested to know what is "normal"

Bad question to ask. Just do you. There is no normal number. There seems to be a big gap, i.e. you either owned OCI or you struggled. I know plenty of people with 12+ callbacks. Also know a lot with only a small handful. There doesn't seem to be much in between. If you are on the wrong end of that spectrum, hustle.Anonymous User wrote:How many callbacks do you all have at this point? I would be interested to know what is "normal"

I guess I am trying to figure out how many callbacks constitutes being on the wrong end of that spectrum. Is 6 enough? 7? 8? I understand that there is some variety, but I was hoping to get some data points. It feels rude to talk to anyone but my closest friends about this in person. I was hoping that an anonymous online forum would make people comfortable enough to share.Anonymous User wrote:Bad question to ask. Just do you. There is no normal number. Re: UVA 2014 OGI CBs, Dings, & Offers
To give you a reference, KD mentioned that somewhere between 45-50% of CBs result in offers. That is the national average and it varies from market to market and firm to firm. I also imagine that it varies wildly from candidate to candidate. Someone who just clicked with one interviewer for whatever reason may not click with any number of other people at the firm. Lots of variables. Focus on crushing the ones that you have scheduled. If you don't have enough to make you feel like you could convert, start mailing and checking symplicity and planning on a few other things.Anonymous User wrote:I guess I am trying to figure out how many callbacks constitutes being on the wrong end of that spectrum. Median, K-JD, excellent interviewer (told so by KD himself)
# of OGI Interviews: 23
# of OGI CBs (so far): 5
# of OGI Rejections: 10
# outstanding: 8
That being said, I hustled beforehand and have already done 5 CBs (from job fairs) and have another 2 CBs lined up IN ADDITION to the 5 CBs I have so far through OGI.
I know of people who are VLR/near-grade-ons who were offered callbacks at almost every interview and actually declined some because there were just too many to reasonably do. I know of people at or below median who have no CBs so far or only have 1-2 (through OGI). I also know of people who are 3.5+ who targeted DC and have come up empty so far. A lot depends on your grades, your interview ability, and what markets you targeted. If NY/DC aren't your primary markets, you have a good shot but realize that those markets also move slower with regard to everything (CBs, Offers, Dings). Some firms also have wait or hold lists for applicants (ESPECIALLY firms with small class sizes).
Also, a poster mentioned a 45-50% CB-to-offer ratio nationwide. It's important to realize that some firms have very very low CB-to-offer ratios because they invite way more than they plan on hiring. Others have close to 100%. Some markets tend to be higher, and some tend to be lower.
TL;DR: STOP READING TEA LEAVES. HUSTLE HUSTLE HUSTLE. You should have mass mailed every firm in every market you would work for (and should have done so three weeks ago).

VLR grade-on here who targeted DC exclusively (with strong ties to area). Out of 21 interviews there, all preselects, sitting on 3 CBs, 8 dings, 10 outstanding. I'm obviously not the world's best interviewer but neither so impossibly bad that no one would give me a CB. Hoping for more, but just saying: folks with 5 or 6 shouldn't feel too down on themselves.Anonymous User wrote:Just as a data point:Anonymous User wrote:Bad question to ask. Just do you. I don't know who you are - but I'm also a VLR grade-on who targeted DC exclusively with strong ties. 23 interviews, with 8 CBs, 5 dings, and 11 outstanding. On the other hand, I have another friend who is also a VLR grade-on who targeted DC exclusively with strong ties - 23 interviews, double digit callbacks to the point where he's turned down a couple.Anonymous User wrote:VLR grade-on here who targeted DC exclusively (with strong ties to area). Another data point.
Little below median/some WE/hit or miss interviewer/targeting secondary markets
# of OGI Interviews: 22
# of OGI CBs (so far): 4
# of OGI Rejections: 2
# outstanding: 16
Wonder how I'm doing.
