This is worse than dating a cover letter with 2012 instead of 2013.Anonymous User wrote:After sending around 40 mass mails, I realize that my standard opening line had a typo. A MOTHER FUCKING TYPO!

OP - yeah it blows. I'm sure that makes me a 100% auto reject from these places that I would already have the odds heavily stacked against me.a male human wrote:This is worse than dating a cover letter with 2012 instead of 2013.Anonymous User wrote:After sending around 40 mass mails, I realize that my standard opening line had a typo. Funny enough, when I did spot the situation, I sent out a few more errorless e-mails today and got a favorable response. Go figure.

For those who've gotten mass mail responses, how long did it take? 1-2 weeks?

For me, positive responses (screener/callbacK) have come same day or within a day or two of the email. Maybe one came a few days later. I don't think I've had any positive responses after a couple weeks. I get a lot of rejections 2-3 weeks later though.Anonymous User wrote:For those who've gotten mass mail responses, how long did it take? 1-2 weeks?

Re: Reminder: Stop reading tea leaves; Start Mass Mailing
Today I received an invitation to interview "when I'm in the area" from a Wilmington firm (I'm about 800 miles away). That firm happens to be one floor below the one I did a callback for back in August. Not only that, but the security guard accidentally told me the wrong floor, so I have actually been in the office of this firm.
Also, a question: this letter says "you will be meeting with several lawyers for a complete interview experience." Am I to assume that this is effectively a callback that I pay for?
ETA: This is the first interview invitation I've received via snail mail. I seriously almost threw it away and then did a double take.

If you don't have a job, I would go if you can find the money. Ask friends, family, whatever. It sounds worth it.Anonymous User wrote:Today I received an invitation to interview "when I'm in the area" from a Wilmington firm (I'm about 800 miles away). Oh I'm absolutely going, no doubts about it. And I'm going to do everything I can to churn up interviews in the Philly/Wilmington area in the meantime (my dad is from Philly and family still in the area so I actually have ties).

Lol I bet this is my firm. And it's both above AND below the firm you CB'd at, the main lobby being below.Anonymous User wrote:Today I received an invitation to interview "when I'm in the area" from a Wilmington firm (I'm about 800 miles away). I paid for my CB there and got an offer (obviously).

Turns out they sent the letter in late August (I didn't check the date) and now they're not sure if they'll have room. Thanks USPS for getting me this YESTERDAY.Anonymous User wrote:Oh I'm absolutely going, no doubts about it. Fortunately I got an interview request via e-mail from a Chicago firm this morning so that softens the blow a bit.spleenworship wrote:Dude, that blows. Who should you email if the firm's website lists a different recruiting contact for each office?
Should I email each office individually or is that obnoxious?

Re: Reminder: Stop reading tea leaves; Start Mass Mailing
Has anyone ever gotten a positive response from a generic online application? Some of the firms I have mass mailed made me fill out an application on their website. How long generally does it take to hear back from that? Should I contact them soon?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
