Have a NY offer (have for a few weeks now).

Offer was not on the spot.

Do you mind sharing about how long it was between your CB and your offer? Or does anyone else who received an NY offer mind sharing for that matter?

I know of 3-4 people who had NY CBs from my school (CCN) and none got offers on the spot as far as I can tell.

Does anyone else find this quote from Quinn Emanuel partner and USC law prof Susan Estrich a bit obnoxious?

“You find yourself, as I have myself many times in the past, in 20-minute interviews all day in which you know in advance that none of the students have a chance of getting an offer,” Estrich said. “The students know it, too, and that’s the joke of it.”

Isn't QE's system really all about avoiding paying schools the fees they charge for OCI interviews? They keep trying to claim that having a reception where literally anyone can come (regardless of grades) is somehow better or different than a lottery system; but that makes no sense.

I really doubt it is about paying the school fees. At least for Chicago, they picked one of the swankiest restaurants in the area, and had unlimited booze/food for hours... They also had a shit load of attorneys fly out for the event from all over the county, which would seem more expensive than having 2 interviewers fly out for a day to conduct interviews.

No, it's really about not giving a shit about personality and choosing callbacks solely based on grades/resume.

Its about poaching people by getting in offers as early as possible. Means that they can get people before they have a chance to consider other places.

If you already have an offer from a V20, you might not hustle as hard during OCIs. Or bother with them at all.

FWIW, I had to wait a week and a half between the callback and an offer from their NYC office. But that's probably an exception to the rule.
