This just confirms my suspicions that MVPDCN are peers. Maybe with the exception of P, belonging with CCNP.

How many years does Boalt need to stay top 10 in the hiring before the TLS conventional "wisdom" about our ability to land BigLaw with a degree that travels to NYC/DC dissipate?run26.2 wrote:Agreed that the Boalt # was higher than I expected. My impression for the last 2 years' OCIs was that hiring was down at Boalt, so that may have informed my expectation.descartesb4thehorse wrote:Weird how Boalt performed so relatively good and USC had one up on Mich.
As for the other poster who talked about Boalt "plummeting", I think our raw score has dropped a point or two. It's just so tight in that area, slight differences can mean significant swings in ranking. Even we were tied at 6, the Dean was referring to us as a top 10 school--which is what we (and our MVP peers) are.

Would it help if I posted the employer list and highlighted the NLJ250 firms for you?rad lulz wrote:No.

Fordham probably still places around 20-25% into biglaw, so he should keep worrying.keg411 wrote:They're also from 3 years ago. Chill, you'll be fine. (Or just transfer to CLS... or PennNYC Law wrote:Shit those numbers are bad ... at least it makes me not regret choosing Fordham over BU.).

Re: Top 50 go-to law schools 2012
Would be interesting to know how self-selection into the NYC market affects the numbers. If M really had a huge contingent targeting Chicago due to career services that year, the drop makes sense. If the NYC area schools have two-thirds or more target NYC while the non-NYC schools have only a third due to self-selection then they should have better numbers. We'll probably never have data to make that determination, though.johansantana21 wrote:This just confirms my suspicions that MVPDCN are peers. Maybe with the exception of P, belonging with CCNP.

Talked to someone in a similar spot who felt the same, he suggested I just stick it out, transfer, and network like hell with the business people. Sounds solid so I'm just going to try that.

Him doing well has absolutely nothing to do with whether he should worry or not based upon whether or not these statistics are from 3 years ago...do you get it?keg411 wrote:Dude, NYC Law kicked ass first semester. No, you asked me to show you what firms are worth worrying about for nonreporting and NLJ250 firms would be the only ones relevant to this discussion.rad lulz wrote:Count em up, do the math. I'd like that.
edit: also, nowhere did I say that most of the firms were NLJ250. That wouldn't make sense. Check the dude's math though if you want and poast results.
Here are the firms from your Vandy list in the NLJ250:
Bradley Arant Boult Cummings
Burr & Forman
Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear
Simpson Thacher
Paul Hastings
Jones Walker
Bass Berry & Sims
Burr & Forman
dla piper
Bracewell & Guiliani
Vinson Elkins
Haynes Boone
Hunton Williams
13/250. So, now, we have NLJ employment stats with 5% of respondents reporting. Thanks for that.

Sperglord. How about the 30% of vandy's nlj250 placement worked at only those firms, so that's what's reported. Not only five percent of all nlj250 firms represents all the nlj250 data. Derp derp derp.pugilistjd wrote:Looks like you're mad at data...rad lulz wrote:You're bad at data.

Re: Top 50 go-to law schools 2012
You completely whiffed here. Radlawlz has suggested that there is some solid proof of NLJ's accuracy because the employment numbers for 1 out of 50 schools and 13 out of 250 firms matched up. So, assuming there is some overlap between Vandy and some of the other 49 schools (...), this amounts to 5% of firms responding assuming the same firms on the employer list responded to the annual survey.TemporarySaint wrote: Sperglord.
