I'm pretty sure they don't pay market. I thought they dropped market salaries after laying off a bajillion people 18 months ago. Their NALP firm doesn't list salaries anymore.Anonymous User wrote:A market-paying job on Symplicity in November? Cadwalader at least pays market. I'd be pretty surprised if at least Morgan Lewis NY didn't pay market, too. Their drastic cuts in 2008/9 should have freed up the money, but perhaps not. (It's possible that they moved to a "performance-based" compensation scheme, aka pay $145k and then give bonuses that get you to $160k if you bill hours like you're at a V10.)

$145k is pretty sweet in November, since pretty soon the going rate for law students in NYC will be like $80k.Anonymous User wrote:I think ML is now at 145K. but they might go back up this year. im surprised they are still hiring (either firm).

For the MLB position, should we apply separately to each office, or just to our main choice and indicate preference for other offices in the comments section?

The contact for the position on our Symplicity is listed as "kamatangelo@morganlewis.com", which a quick Google search reveals belongs to the firmwide legal recruiting director. http://www.morganlewis.com/bios/kamatangelo

Above poster. Our Symplicity posting asks us to use their LawCruit link to apply, hence my question about applying separately to each office. Anyone know?Anonymous User wrote:The contact for the position on our Symplicity is listed as "kamatangelo@morganlewis.com", which a quick Google search reveals belongs to the firmwide legal recruiting director. http://www.morganlewis.com/bios/kamatangelo

I would pick one office and sell hard for that market/office.Anonymous User wrote:would you send her one cover and note interest in both offices?

Probably sound advice, as firms generally want to see commitment to that market. I disobeyed the advice, however. Upon submitting my resume, I got an auto-email telling me that I had to fill out a proprietary application form (I'm sure you've seen these for other firms), which requires you to select one office and one department (lit, etc.). Do with that info what you will. You could presumably fill out the form twice, I guess.Anonymous User wrote:I would pick one office and sell hard for that market/office.Anonymous User wrote:would you send her one cover and note interest in both offices?

That's odd. Cadwalader DC has a listing on our school job site that was posted just a few days ago.Anonymous User wrote:i was told from an alumni that the DC office of cadwalader is filled.

Anyone know what's going on with the DC office? I emailed an application last week and never received the email prompting me to apply through the website. I'm assuming they just haven't gotten around to dinging me.Anonymous User wrote:anyone else get an email ding from morgan lewis today?
