Paul, Weiss kills it in PPP though. He'll probs be making more money just by virtue of the leverage and the firm's structural differences.smaug wrote:Paul, Weiss to 145k to pay for whatever deal they made to lure him away.
Also, he now gets to be a "global head" of M&A over dozens of offices instead of just one and a half.

Okay, my bad. It was a facetious point anyway.sublime wrote:Pw only has 8 total offices, 3 in the US.jbagelboy wrote:Paul, Weiss kills it in PPP though. This thread has repeatedly lost focus over the past couple of months. To the extent that NY to 190K hasn't happened yet, I blame the posters in this thread.smaug wrote:I think y'all have forgotten what thread you're in

One thing associates actually can do thru coordinated action is reduce the Vault ratings of NYC firms relative to firms in secondary markets that pay comparatively more when adjusting for COL. Remember brothers, the resistance started here.

“God assumed from the beginning that the wise of the world would view Christians 190 believers as fools…and He has not been disappointed. Devout Christians 190 believers are destined to be regarded as fools in modern society. We are fools for Christ’s sake. We must pray for courage to endure the scorn of the sophisticated world. If I have brought any message today, it is this: Have the courage to have your wisdom regarded as stupidity.”

Remember that time Skadden had one cheese plate and told the associates about the increase to minimum hours billed to get a bonus? Yeah, that happened.

How does this work with ranking my firm 10 and all others 1 though :/kcdc1 wrote:One thing associates actually can do thru coordinated action is reduce the Vault ratings of NYC firms relative to firms in secondary markets that pay comparatively more when adjusting for COL. Although I have faulted this thread for its lack of focus, I would be willing to suspend the germaneness rule if it meant that DLA Piper could become a V15.El Pollito wrote:if we could organize some vault ranking chaos that would be great

Yes. Please.El Pollito wrote:if we could organize some vault ranking chaos that would be great
Dislodge the stagnant V5, except Wachtell because we should encourage higher compensation for NY to 190. Send Cravath, Davis Polk, S&C, and Simpson a packin' till they shape up and pay up.

weil would make the most sense but no one even considers it a good firm anymore. it would be more fun to tank a firm full of strivers like kirkland.anyriotgirl wrote:is weil too realistic?El Pollito wrote:INrpupkin wrote:Although I have faulted this thread for its lack of focus, I would be willing to suspend the germaneness rule if it meant that DLA Piper could become a V15.El Pollito wrote:if we could organize some vault ranking chaos that would be great

Kirkland actually does pay better than peer firms (if you include bonus), so it's probably not the best firm to target if we want to send a message re: compensation. Cravath?

Def Cravath. They used to be the market leader in pushing for higher comp so maybe losing some Vault points will help prompt them out of stagnation.kcdc1 wrote:Kirkland actually does pay better than peer firms (if you include bonus), so it's probably not the best firm to target if we want to send a message re: compensation. among my classmates at least, I think tanking DPW would cause the most wailing and gnashing of teeth
