Holy shit, that's awesome. They almost never do that.
OMG these things fit me like a fucking glove.
They're great shirts. I picked up a few yesterday, and plan to order more from the website tonight.

How are their "executive shirts"? $19.99 sale for them looks great, but I've never owned anything from Jos A Bank.
its really pretty good value. it won't last long and is all styled rather classic (old-manish). but it will get you through law school.
That's fine. They will mostly be under cardigans, anyway.

I'm also looking for one for a wedding this summer.

I worked there during college, so I've heard people refer to the store as Nordstrom's a million times. I don't even notice it anymore, haha.

Half for point, full for spread

Not wearing spread collars is TTT though
Medium-spread ftw
I think for formal situations, the medium/wide spread with the half windsor is a great choice.
For a regular day at the office, I like to mix it up and throw in the point collar with a 4-in-hand knot.

Does anyone here ever go for less-known tie knots like the small knot, victoria knot or the pratt knot? I've never seen the point of using them in the past, but I just saw a commentator on the US open with a small knot/point collar combo which was pretty money.

Lolwut? You never want to do a half windsor with a spread collar. Total rookie move.

Everyone here in Seattle calls it Nordstrom's. You know.. cause it's that store in downtown that was started by Mr. Nordstrom.

Oh don't slander Seattle with that shit. It's a midwestern thing. (Although props on the goeduck avatar I should have known you were from the Northwest.)

Romo - BB outlet suits are fine for school. I would also check Nordstrom Rack and Saks Off Fifth. Might be able to get a little better for the same money.

"Nordstrom's"
I seriously thought that was the official name until I got old enough to shop there myself, and I grew up here with a dad that shops there a lot. Actually, the only people I know who don't use the 's in conversation grew up out of state.

Maybe so. What part of the state are you from? (I won't deny being guilty of saying "Nordstrom's" sometimes. My mom probably says it.)

Brooks Bros. outlet suits are fine for OCI, etc., but they're absolutely not what's sold in store. However, the only time you should buy a BB suit in store is during their half yearly, when the suits are just shy of half off.

Grew up in Tacoma. I live half a mile from Nordstrom's headquarters in Seattle now.

I'm from the midwest where we do singular possessivize everything, but it makes sense a lot of the time.

Like with Nordstrom. The store is called Nordstrom, but that's also a person. It stands to reason you could be saying "I'm heading to John Nordstrom's store" but you just shorten it. "Heading to Nordstrom's."

Making a non-name -'s is stupid, like Old Navy's, but no one does that.

Anyone have any way of getting dress shirts in uncommon sizes without paying upwards of $100/shirt for custom-made shirts? I wear 15.5/37 and I can't find a single retailer that sells the size -- I've even resorted to Big&Tall shops, only to realize that Big&Tall is code for "fat people, some of whom happen to be tall."

I'm asking because I'm poor, only have 2 properly-fitting dress shirts, and am in desperate need of more for OCI.

BBs semi annual sale is on now. Are these generally the best deals they give all year?

They're actually better in-store than online, which is not the norm -- but yes, this is the time to cash in.

At the last half-yearly they extended the sale at an even deeper discount. I have a feeling this is their standard practice. However, at that point a lot of inventory is usually gone already. In general, this is the period to buy. You can get pretty close to getting two-for-one on suits, which is what I did last year.
