Just apply to everything and see what sticks.Anonymous User wrote:Is it late in the game for 1Ls who are still unemployed?
My "networking" thru the alum database hasn't really led to any "you should talk to this guy" or "I heard so-and-so."
I've filled out all the taleo applications on LawStudentsJobs recently, no response.
Is it too late to even mass mail F1000 companies?
I need a concrete gameplan. My CSO is useless. Bottom-feeder at one of H/S here.
Or cop a government/PI internship and call it a day

I go to a CN, with excellent grades. I'd like to work in NYC eventually, but figured if I'm not getting paid, I might as well save on rent and work in my irrelevant hometown. I've got an offer from a federal judge and the USAO there. How bad would it look for OCI if I did it?

Anyone heard from the NY Federal Reserve? Their posting says they hire on a rolling basis through March.
I just searched back to late January and didn't couldn't find anyone talking about this

Re: 1L Summer Job Search C/O 2017
I thought I'd throw my experience in the mix now that my job search has wrapped up. For reference, I go to a well-respected school with outstanding networking. My grades suck. I struck out at OCI (0/2).
Within 72 hours... I received a phone call from a partner/alum of a major market firm offering me a paid position with a corporation. This came after a fruitless interview for a position within his firm. During the original interview, he directly called me out for my grades. After the original interview, he gave me great feedback about my interviewing skills and promised to stay in touch. Fast forward a month or so and I've landed a cushy corporate gig.
Loaded with this offer, I emailed the satellite office of the BigLaw firm with which I had interviewed to notify them that I had received another compelling offer. Strong ties to the market and outstanding connections within this specific office. I had a sparkling on-site interview with several partners and 1 associate. They came back with a SA offer very quickly; virtually guaranteed a 2L SA position so long as I don't royally muck up this summer.
Stay positive and network, friends. I'm a positively cautionary tale that grades will only get you so far; good interviewing and networking can sometimes overcome lousy academic performance!

Is it possible to withdraw acceptance from the USAO during the background check process?

Of course. No one can make you work anywhere if you change your mind. You might piss them off, though.Anonymous User wrote:Is it possible to withdraw acceptance from the USAO during the background check process?

Re: 1L Summer Job Search C/O 2017
How many people are still looking? I have no upcoming interviews and I've been rejected from everyone who I interviewed with already. I'm sending about 3-5 applications per day, mostly public interest at this point, and I get a "we acknowledge your application" e-mail for about 1 out of every 10, but no interviews. I'm at a top 3 school. Do I start worrying?
Also, is it really super important that I do a legal internship this summer? Like could I strike out at OCI at a top 3 school with median+ grades, good work experience, and no 1L internship? I want to be in NY this summer no matter what and I would rather be unemployed in NY (I have family there) than be doing an RA or an internship that I don't care about in a different city.
