"Except people actually accept Paul Hastings offers" sounds bitter to me mr. Data man.

Paul Hastings has a higher acceptance % of offers than Schulte last year. But in 2012 Paul Hastings had 1 accepted and Schulte had 6.

2011 PH had 2 accepted and Schulte 6 again.

So maybe you aren't bitter, just uninformed.

Stop it with this shit.

No one cares if you think Schulte is the greatest firm in the world. No one cares if you think Schulte is TTT. No one cares whether you prefer Schulte or Paul Hastings. Unless you have something substantive to say about a firm that rises above a schoolyard level, keep it to yourself.

dechert thread reported offers on thursday for CBs on Tuesday. idk if people are being silent but no one who interviewed the week before reported anything, which is really strange.

I had mine on Wednesday, so I'm hoping these were either yale students or they arbitrarily cut off at tuesday.

I personally am tired of seeing people shit talk firms. Especially big law firms in a big market like ny. At least do it to a deserving firm, not bc there is some troll around here. A lot of people
Seriously consider these firms which are great firms and the shit talk is hurting people who come here looking for genuine advice. Let's be better than that guys. This isn't nyu

On another note. I'm yet to hear back from dechert about my screener. trolol

Still no word from about six screeners, including Mayer Brown UU and Mintz Levin.

My Pillsbury MM ding last night was dated August 11th, so I'm assuming there's just processing issues rather than a legitimate decision on my candidacy, but still, I'd like to be able to "close the book" on everyone.

I appreciate the return to civility, but let's not forget that some firms are drastically sub-par in their business card design.

Dunno but I got dinged from Hughes Hubbard. HUGHES HUBBARD of all places. I didn't punch the interviewers in the face so I'm not sure what I did to get dinged lol

It's generally a bad call professionally to burn bridges. I learned that the hard way in college when I sent a nasty email to one consulting firm after a particularly bullshit case interview question and it came back to my contact at another one I actually liked. No response is probably best.

I'd love some opinions if possible. I only received 3 callbacks in over 20 screeners at EIP. I do have one offer, waiting to hear on one bc from last week, and one cb next week.

My question is why were my results so bad? My grades are median. I'm confident and make good eye contact and am not nervous in the interviews. These were actually 2 of my constant positives told to me both in moot court and mock interview.

I researched the firms and was prepared. Most of the screeners felt
Like a very good conversation. Including one where we were having a great time and really clicked. They dinged me.

Anyone have any idea what the problem could possibly be/have been? I really don't know....

although your number of callbacks was low, you're not really doing that poorly overall (congrats on the offer!)

there's a lot of luck in this stuff

don't take it to heart

You do have an offer, so congratulations. Hopefully you will hear good news from the other two as well. Obviously it's difficult to know precisely what the problem was since I don't know who you are, but some things that come to mind:

1) Did you bid aggressively in terms of selectivity? Out of the 20 screeners at EIP, how many had 80%+ Stone/Kent? There may be nothing wrong with what you did, but just that you didn't make their grade criteria.

2) Did you bid some tough markets like D.C. or California without significant ties? Those are hard to get unless you have very good grades or something that makes you stand out.

3) Not as good at interviewing as you think. You may be confident, but perhaps you gave unimpressive answers or asked generic questions. Maybe you didn't read the interview/interviewer well. Because your grades are median, if you don't have great experience (especially K-JD), you might have not just stood out from other candidates. Feeling like you clicked well doesn't mean you distinguished yourself. The interviewer could have just been good at interviewing and made all candidates feel like they had a great conversation. This was absolutely true from my experience. Some interviews felt boring/mediocre, but I got callbacks from them. For others, I was certain the conversation went amazingly but got dinged. Of course, some of this is arbitrary and luck.

Either way, you have a job and are just fine. So there's that.

Definitely happy I have an offer. For sure.

Only 2 firms were even 70%+. Rest were under 40. Also all were the ny offices.

I guess it must've been my questions or answers although thinking back now I still feel my answers were great and had good, well informed questions.

I also have a couple years of very relevant and substantive work experience. It bugs me a lot how poorly I did looking back...I mean some I thought were golden like Paul Hastings, chadbourne, cadwalader, Cahill...

Seconding this, and what the other guy said about not always being able to read interviewers.

I thought I destroyed a certain NY powerhouse interview, it was relaxed, fluid, and she kept me a few minutes overtime and said some very nice parting words, but I didn't get a callback (and I'm sure I met whatever grade cutoff they might've had). Another interviewer actually promised a callback at the end, but the call never came.

At the same time, I've also gotten a couple callbacks I really shouldn't have. No awful interviews, but definitely some that were entirely mediocre. And in terms of offers, I didn't get one from a callback that I felt went brilliantly, and I finally got one a week and a day after the CB... apparently one of the partners I met got thrown into a deal very soon after my CB, and just now had time to get back to evaluating me. So there's that, too, if you haven't heard yet.

There really is a luck element here. I came in thinking that all of us would get firm jobs barring something crazy, and I truly do think that's still the case. That said, it's much more of a fight for everyone than I thought it would be. These aren't handed to us, and even Columbia has to fight tooth and nail for these positions.

Congrats on the offer!

Nice. With who, if you don't mind saying?

I have a cb Tuesday and waiting to her back from another still too.

Still haven't heard back with like 5 from EIP. While I assume they're duds is there any chance?
Came down to Skadden and Simpson Thacher (both NY). Gonna go with Skadden.

Good luck with the rest of your process.
What did you seen in Skadden that you didn't see in STB, other than a slightly higher Vault ranking?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
