Re: 1L Summer Job Search C/O 2017
I'd take AG. We are 1Ls, and the USAO still will require a long background check process before officially getting the offer (I've been waiting about a month now to get confirmation of mine).Anonymous User wrote:Hello friends,
I have an outstanding offer from an AG's office, but had interviewed with a USAO office last Friday and was told that I would be getting an offer, with an official confirmation supposed to have come this week. The offer for the AG's office is due tomorrow but I have yet to get the confirmation call from the USAO. I would take the USAO offer, but I don't want to turn down an offer only to find out that I don't have one from the USAO. Like i said, i was told verbally that I would be getting an offer, but I don't want to act until I have an official confirmation.
Does anyone have any advice on how I should proceed? I need to know by tomorrow.

a handful of people who did extremely well here at H but were risk averse and went for DOJ/USAO instead of risking hearing about grades and applying for firms. they are kicking themselves now

Yeah, this is an entirely useless post and not an appropriate use of anon. I'm not going to out because you state your school (although everyone knows this poster goes to H), but don't make pointless comments like this.Anonymous User wrote:a handful of people who did extremely well here at H but were risk averse and went for DOJ/USAO instead of risking hearing about grades and applying for firms. they are kicking themselves now

For an informational interview at a NYC biglaw firm's office, is it safe to assume they're business formal and I should suit up?

Do large in-house groups actually care about ties or is that just a standard question?

They could be bus formal but they also could be business casual. I went on about 4 so far and they were all business casual but I wore a suit and I dont regret the decision. My personal opinion is that you rather be over than under dressed. I'd suit up.Anonymous User wrote:For an informational interview at a NYC biglaw firm's office, is it safe to assume they're business formal and I should suit up?

Has anyone interviewed with a member of the House or Senate, or with a standing committee? Or, has anyone heard of friends getting interviews / summer positions yet?

I think anywhere you go while unemployed, you suit up.Anonymous User wrote:They could be bus formal but they also could be business casual. What is the point of firms like S&C who send 1L snail mail dings. Why not just email?Anonymous User wrote:Anyone heard from the FCC/CTFC/SBA or other non-DOJ/SEC agencies?

Emails don't have watermarks and high cotton content. It's classier this way.Anonymous User wrote: What is the point of firms like S&C who send 1L snail mail dings. Why not just email?

Re: 1L Summer Job Search C/O 2017
Is it late in the game for 1Ls who are still unemployed?
My "networking" thru the alum database hasn't really led to any "you should talk to this guy" or "I heard so-and-so."
I've filled out all the taleo applications on LawStudentsJobs recently, no response.
Is it too late to even mass mail F1000 companies?
I need a concrete gameplan. My CSO is useless. Bottom-feeder at one of H/S here.
