Jesus christ. "hedge fund work" is miserable. Schulte is not the firm representing hedge funds when they actually get involved in transactions other than garden variety trades. That's when they hire one of the usual suspects. Working at schulte is a ticket to back office work at a fund long term, which would make me blow my brains out. To each their own.

This is not to say no one should ever work at schulte, or that schulte isn't a fine choice over, say, Chadbourne or Proskauer. But really, hedge fund work? Picking schulte over cravath? Seriously? is that what it comes to?

NB: I'm an associate who works with plenty of funds, and it aint at Schulte or Cravath.
schulte feeds into goldman sachs. wouldn't consider that too shabby, for the record
Haha at this point I'm just convinced that this person snagged a lone offer from Schulte and wants to start promoting it.

Davis Polk offer today, CB last Thursday. So that's not over yet, apparently.

Hogan Lovells DC rejection too, at last.

SullCrom also feeds into Goldman Sachs, but if you can't figure out the difference between feeding into the building across the street and feeding into the one across the river, then you probably don't know what you're getting into.

edit: different anon

Hey man, same anon as above. The people I know who have CBs had a dinner with GDC LA during EIP. I don't think any CBs went to people without that invite. Haven't heard anything on offers though.

to the people asking about Gibson LA: I don't know about standing offers, I have my full CB tomorrow & I met with a hiring partner in the offices today since he won't be around tomorrow to evaluate. Apparently they typically try to do same day offers at dinner the night of your interviews. There are more interviews than a typical CB so it's a rather extensive process.

Sure would be nice if Kirkland NY would have the decency to send out their screener dings so I can call it a wrap on interview season...

To chime in as a second year associate, getting staffed to the deal team of a hedge fund formation was by far the worst part of my first year. just so much bs paperpushing

Are we supposed to call the partner back after receiving an offer via voicemail? They left their number if I had any questions, which I don't, but it feels weird to not acknowledge the offer.

Anyone who did a callback with Ropes get an offer? If so, do you know the number they called you from?

I would call them back, thank them for the offer and express your excitement, and let them know you'll be in touch or whatever

Could you pm me or post here on how you like the firm? And what the potential exit options look like etc. Schulte is one of my considerations

Advice on what to do, please. Interviewed at Cleary last week, haven't heard back. They are my top choice, although I have other great offers. Do I email them to ask or just wait it out? At this point is there a chance I'm still getting an offer?

Can any 3Ls or associates chime in on S&C vs. Cleary for corp? Is this just a fit choice? I've posted a good number of cb/offer updates in the thread, so please don't yell at me for asking. Need the advice.

Things haven't been going as well for me as I was hoping, so I'm going to start mass-mailing now (yes, yes, I know, I should have started weeks ago, but better late than never). Problem is, I'm not really sure how to proceed and OCS keeps telling me not worry about it until after their info session after classes start. Does anybody who has done it have any advice? Emailing a resume and a cover letter to every CLS/undergrad alum that I can find in non-EIP firms doesn't seem like it would be particularly effective nor an efficient use of my time. Should I send a feeler email first (something along the lines of "I'm considering applying to your firm, I was wondering if you could answer some questions that I have") or just go straight for the resume? I assume that I should also submit applications to the recruiting coordinator/hiring partner/whoever is listed on the website.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
