Rejected at 4 firms I've had callbacks at so far; still waiting on the verdict from the last one. Secondary market with ties, CCN, ~median grades, unique work experience.

What's the protocol re: asking for feedback from firms that dinged you? I scheduled all these callbacks before grades came out, so I'm trying to figure out if it was my mediocre grades or shitty personality that torpedoed me.

Your feedback will be that you are median and not diverse enough. Did you expect to get a 1L SA as median at any school? (Except maybe for TX). I would discourage asking for feedback here. Obviously it's your grades but there's no nice way for them to say that so you're just being awkward. Fortunately you'll have plenty of options from median at OCI.

Thanks. I know it was an ignorant question, but I'm a pessimist and just wanted to be sure I wasn't doing something seriously wrong before the stakes are higher at 2L OCI. I wasn't able to find much information on whether such a low callback/offer rate is unusual for 1L SA's.

For what it's worth: I'm not diverse, but I am a veteran. I know that doesn't carry the same weight, but I think some firms do include vets in their diversity programs or give it some weight in hiring decisions.

If you think your interviewing skills are a problem, practice. A lot.

On the bright side, having so many interviews as a 1L will definitely help you at OCI regardless. So you've had good practice and a better sense of how this works and I'm sure you've improved.
