Pretty much the same here. Mass-mailed ~20 firms in one market, four callbacks, two offers. T20 median + CS degree.Anonymous User wrote:Yes. I got all of my interviews through mass mailing. 7 requests for callbacks, 4 actual callbacks, and 3 offers from about 25 emails sent. Yeah, 2 CBs in LA for a non urm, non IP, 1L is a very good result.BigZuck wrote:100 firms is nothing. 2 CBs is really solid. Most people won't get 1L SAs, they are tough to get. The LA market in particular probably my isn't going to jump all over 1Ls.Anonymous User wrote:Am I doing something wrong?
I'm probably 5th in my class right now at USC. I've applied to over 100 firms, only received 3 interviews through OCI (out of 4 firms) and I've had 2 CBs. I feel like my grades should have given me a better chance at a firm job. Is the LA market just not feeling 1Ls or what?
What should I do now?
Non-URM, K-JD
Now is probably the time I start applying to non-firm stuff if you haven't already.

It depends on the restaurant. If its a steakhouse get steak etc. Also, if the attorneys are all ordering meals, don't be a bitch and order salad. These lunches are pretty fun. You seem like a chill, sociable, bro, so you should be fine at this thing.georgej wrote:What's the protocol on being invited to "lunch with some more attorneys" after already having done a 3 hour callback interview? Is this like a victory lap sorta thing or srs business? And credited is just to order a salad and only eat half, right?

I wanted to get steak but the attorneys ordered sandwiches and I wasn't about that life.
Was quite the conundrum. At least it had ahi tuna on it?

I dunno if I would characterize them as fun, but different strokes.Pikappraider wrote:It depends on the restaurant. Anyway, I doubt what you order really matters unless you get something super messy and sloppy or you get greedy and order something super expensive.

Rejected at 4 firms I've had callbacks at so far; still waiting on the verdict from the last one. Secondary market with ties, CCN, ~median grades, unique work experience.
What's the protocol re: asking for feedback from firms that dinged you? I scheduled all these callbacks before grades came out, so I'm trying to figure out if it was my mediocre grades or shitty personality that torpedoed me.

Judging from you wanting feedback, it's probably your shitty personality.Anonymous User wrote:Rejected at 4 firms I've had callbacks at so far; still waiting on the verdict from the last one. Secondary market with ties, CCN, ~median grades, unique work experience.

quick Q: if we're going to do something unpaid and are not going to get a stipend for it, how long does the internship have to be to not raise any eyebrows in OCI? Ten weeks or is something like eight OK?

Re: 1L Summer Job Search C/O 2017
it's going to be listed on your resume in terms of months, right? Why would they know whether you were working for ten weeks or eight unless you told them? I would say "I was at X place for 2 (or two and a half) months" or "I worked here from May to July" or "this is what I did this summer..."Ron Don Volante wrote:quick Q: if we're going to do something unpaid and are not going to get a stipend for it, how long does the internship have to be to not raise any eyebrows in OCI? I was thinking either way I'd list it as "summer 2015" as it looks better than listing months IMO. Was more curious if it is the kind of thing you'd get called out on in an interview.

Have some info I haven't seen mentioned. This is what I've heard from friends at CCN, it's not from personal knowledge so no guarantee as to accuracy.
Proskauer NY has started making offers. DLA NY had callbacks. In case you didn't know, their 1L program basically guarantees you a 2L offer. Epstein Becker & Green NY and Lowenstein Sandler NJ are doing callbacks now.

Thanks for all the lunch info, guys. Looks like the optimal order to place is a fish based salad of some sort and eat 74%. BUT HOW MUCH SHOULD I TIP?

Are they as stingy about 1L grades, assuming you go to a T6?

Can you confirm whether the person you have in mind is K.W. or someone else?Anonymous User wrote:i know a kid at H deciding between cravath and s&c. must have the best options in the entire class.
Cravath 1L is amazing but there are a few of them at H every year. S&C, according to Chambers, only hires 1L a year and I know the person who got it last year or the year before, and he was K-JD but otherwise insane.
