Re: OCI callbacks thread
(Top 5% / LR / Moot Court from UVA from earlier)
I didn't get invited to the GDC reception, but did get a callback from the DC office (the only market I'm looking at).
The feeling I got (and this is purely anecdotal) is that at least a significant portion of the people invited to the selective GDC dinner / reception is for those interviewees whose interviewers were not from the office they were seeking (because of interview scheduling or whatever). For example, one of my colleagues who interviewed with GDC was interviewing for the GDC office, but the room he was scheduled to interview in had two interviewers from Dallas and some other office. He theorized that the dinner / reception was to give him a chance to meet and talk to the DC interviewer, though I don't have enough data points to say that that's always the case.

Re: OCI callbacks thread
top 20-25% at T14. Thought interview went quite well and my resume well suited. Targeting CA offices. No invite to dinner. So far 1 callback from a V10. Wondering if there is still hope for GDC.

I go to a "regional TT", and I can say that I have had about 8-12 interviews for regional branches of international firms, regional firms, state firms, etc. I will respond how call backs turn out, if they turn out at all. My theory, though will soon be proven/disproven, is that regional/state schools will dominate their regions/states, even in the face of elite schools, given the fact that mid/larger sized firms were not as devastated by the downturn as the big name NYC firms. That being said, god save all 2Ls, 1Ls and 0Ls, the lowly classes of 2011, 12, 13...and perhaps beyond, destined to be competing against hundreds or thousands for a handful of spots.Just finished OCI at CCN. Had 27 interviews, 7 of which were for a secondary market. Roughly top 10% + not great at interviews.
NY: 3 dings, 8 callbacks.
Secondary: 1 ding, 0 callbacks.

I also just finished at CCN (so probably the same CCN)... 26 Interviews (3 in secondary markets)...
Decent Interview, Roughly top 35% (actually, no clue)
6 Callbacks, 2 Dings, rest unknown (but since other ppl have gotten callbacks from the unknown, i'm expecting snailmail ding or waitlist or something)... 2 of my callbacks are in the secondary markets.

Re: OCI callbacks thread
One more callback yesterday but it was for a NY firm (bringing the total to 9). I have heard secondhand reports of others receiving callbacks from firms I interviewed with for the secondary market, which suggests I'm going to get absolutely nothing on that front. I had several very good interviews (objectively better than almost all my NY interviews), so I guess this is about either the practice area preferences I expressed or (more likely) a perception that I wasn't committed to the market. I probably would have been better off bidding in DC, where connections don't matter.Anonymous User wrote:Thanks for the post, and please let us know how this progresses. This is from the previous fun GDC dinner attender...
These people who find out they're on the waiting list or if they're called back...how long did you hear after the dinner took place?

haha. okay. so, I shouldn't be sweating the fact that a day passed and I didn't hear anything. (My previous invite-only reception got back to me next day.)

I'm not in LS but one of my roommates is a BL associate and she was on the phone with a mutual friend of ours that had 15 interviews, 3 call backs (i know one is a V5-V10), and 2 dings. Hope that helps you guys, and good luck. The friend attends CCN.

Normally I wouldn't, but as a future law student I'm curious about the job prospects-- especially considering the economy.amped wrote:Out of curiosity...how come you frequent this forum? T20/bottom half/journal
10 interviews.
8 days since last interview.
1 callback/3 dings.
Are they taking THAT long to reject? WTF. I'm thrilled I have ONE callback. Thanking every lucky star I can think of. Do you think they just don't send you a rejection letter/email if you're someone like me? Waste of paper.
Kids at our school have received and accepted offers at GDC.

Top 10 school
Top 20% grades; secondary journal; moot court
Not the best interviewer
Focused on DC, Cal, and other secondary market in West
15 interviews
1 Callback (V25)
5 dings
Worried!!
