Getting fired from an UNPAID internship is much more embarrassing. Unlike BigLaw, unpaid internships take anyone with a pulse and you basically have zero real responsibility. The expectations, performance-wise, are much lower.objctnyrhnr wrote:I know your intention was to imply that the situation you are describing is analogous. Not sure if you’re in BL or anything, but based on my experience in like the amlaw50, I just don’t think I what you described (ie unpaid summer internship) is analogous tbh.Anonymous User wrote:I was fired from an UNPAID summer legal internship in August 2016 (2-3 days before the conclusion of the internship) for much something much less awful than groping. Sh*t happens.

The real question is why people are acting like they didn't witness this savage murder.pithypike wrote:I thought OP said biglaw?Anonymous User wrote:I heard it was Baker BottsYeezus. wrote:The word on the street is that a summer associate was fired from a V10 non-NYC office for fondling another summer.

I've heard fairly reliable rumors within the Texas Biglaw community that an SA at Baker Botts was fired around this time. But folks on here seem to be talking about K&E Chicago... either someone is confused, or there were two separate incidents around the same time.

Re: Fired summer associate
Well groping another associate, if that’s what happened, could easily have ended OPs biglaw career. That sort of story gets around.
Anyone think OP can salvage this? I’m at a loss for ideas.

Rumor has it that a Baker Botts SA was too drunk at a firm event and one of the girls from recruiting escorted him out of the event and up to his hotel room so that he could be safely away from the other attendees. When they got there, he tried to drag her into the room with him and she got away. He was axed the next day.objctnyrhnr wrote:Let’s hear more about the substance of those rumors...Anonymous User wrote:I've heard fairly reliable rumors within the Texas Biglaw community that an SA at Baker Botts was fired around this time. Or so the hot gossip would suggest.

Wow. Yeah, attempted sexual assault (at the least) would do it.Anonymous User wrote:Rumor has it that a Baker Botts SA was too drunk at a firm event and one of the girls from recruiting escorted him out of the event and up to his hotel room so that he could be safely away from the other attendees. Can confirm that I heard the same gossip and it's been pretty well known among TX firms for a while.

Do you really think anyone's going to burn a source or out themselves just to get credibility here though?

Apparenly he wasn't fired, got that $$, and is telling people he took "personal leave."

I’m confused. How did he get that $$ if he took leave? Also, if he wasn’t fired, why does he have to lie and say he took personal leave?Anonymous User wrote:Apparenly he wasn't fired, got that $$, and is telling people he took "personal leave."

I also heard he was not fired and (apparently) was paid through the end of the summer but either got no offered or cold-offered.

OP, if this really is you, chances are your career isn’t over. You will be able to get in firms that didn’t hear about this but you need to quit drinking at public events forever.

Re: Fired summer associate
As a reminder, there were actually TWO separate incidents that occurred around the same time (different firms, different cities). So pay attention to which guy you're talking about or the stories may not make sense.
