Just cross out your firm logo and use sharpie to approximate the S&C logo. What city?LaLiLuLeLo wrote:WOW just got an email that our lunch budget is $25. Cheap fucks. (Instagram) models and (popov) bottles smh.
Also, does that include tax/tip? Ours is $35, but includes tax/tip, so really comes out to 26-27 sticker price.

Yes, I'm gonna be that TX troll. The poll should reflect Dallas and Houston already. LA + Chi = 16; TX (Dallas + Houston, maaaaybe an Austin) = 17.

I'll ask my friends what their firms do. But times are tough. Last year was one of the best ever. Gotta tighten the belt, you know?Blackfish wrote:What's the norm for LA? That seems damn low.

Dat greed. It's more egregious if it was higher before and they lowered it this time lol.LaLiLuLeLo wrote:I'll ask my friends what their firms do. But times are tough. Last year was one of the best ever. Gotta tighten the belt, you know?Blackfish wrote:What's the norm for LA? That seems damn low.

I got so many compliments on my leopard print flats last summer! I'm sure they were half the reason I got an offer.Capitol_Idea wrote:Thanks guys for reminding me to closely check shoe quality and variation of suits for the incoming Summers. Correct (at least on my end). You'll generally get this information on day 1. Associates are told sometime before summers start.candidlatke wrote:for the record, you guys are practicing attorneys discussing the budgets that you can take the summers out with right?arklaw13 wrote:What city?LaLiLuLeLo wrote:WOW just got an email that our lunch budget is $25. My old firm (home office of international firm) was $30, plus we could take them out at night whenever we wanted without pre approval with a $30 per head limit. My new firm (satellite of NY firm) is $20 for lunch per head with no models and bottles when we want privileges.Blackfish wrote:What's the norm for LA? That seems damn low.

Re: Summer Associate Class of 2017
Yeah. In LA Restaurant Week falls in the middle of the summer, which mean tons of great restaurants have price fixed meals for $15-$25 per head, so we end up blowing the budget. Even outside of restaurant week, we'll blow the budget so we can have a good meal. When there is overage, we'd usually just play credit card roulette among everyone at the table to see who has to pay for it and I would submit the receipt for the allotted amount.arklaw13 wrote:Correct (at least on my end). That sounds about right for my firm, but I think it's not a hard cutoff. It's just "be reasonable"buckiguy_sucks wrote:is $35 typical for DC?
The solution kiddos is to eat with partners. They'll only accept fine dining and they'll foot the bill (and either make the firm pay for it or do it themselves what do you care). Also serious power move - show your firm you only deal with top dogs because you're one yourself.

Ran out of options. Can only do 10. I was gonna combine the CA cities too and add in "midwest," but I figured there'd be more in CA and most of the people choosing TX would be Houston.BasilHallward wrote:Yes, I'm gonna be that TX troll. NY is totally different. Costs more, brings in more $$ so they can afford it.sublime wrote:Really? What about ny based firms? I didn't check but I kind of doubt my firm has a different amount.arklaw13 wrote:I'd be surprised if many firms went much higher.buckiguy_sucks wrote:is $35 typical for DC?

I just assumed my firm had it the same bc our D.C. Office is so much smaller so like why fuck with it. They also pay for the D.C. Kids and associates sometimes to come up here and get a hotel and everything for major events.arklaw13 wrote:NY is totally different. I think my NYC firm had a $40-45 reimbursement policy but the associates said that they always got reimbursed for going over.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
