Re: 2016 Texas OCI (UT/University of Texas + All Others)
Mass mail is the act of sending out your application (resume, cover letters, etc.) to a large number of firms outside of your school's OCI. You send your application directly to the firm through their website or recruiting coordinator. Many people each year get callbacks and offers by doing this without getting anything from OCI. Usually it involves sending upwards of 100+ applications to various firms in the hopes of getting just a few callbacks or offers, hence the "mass" mail. It's all email as well, so the "mail" part is confusing as you shouldn't physically mail anything.Typical time frame for this is Early July through whenever you get a job offer.Anonymous User wrote:Thanks. No problem. Obviously, there could have been a miscommunication. So, take what I heard with a grain of salt.Anonymous User wrote:Oh, as in doing the callbacks today?? Did anyone else notice their screener results get drastically worse as the week went on? Not sure if it was my energy level or if it had something to do with the firms/interviewers.

Yep. Most of my screeners were on Thursday & Friday and I didn't get a CB from most of them. Most of my CBs came from the first couple of days.Hikikomorist wrote:Did anyone else notice their screener results get drastically worse as the week went on? I think it might also be because most of the firms with large class sizes were on the first two days.Anonymous User wrote:Yep. Any word from Locke Lord (Dallas) regarding CBs or offers? Friend who summered there is a prior year said they sometimes wait until the end of OCI cycle in order to get a sense of the screen pool before making CBs. That seems to be about now (sorry STCL or whatever you call yourselves now ... you don't count)

Re: 2016 Texas OCI (UT/University of Texas + All Others)
I think it's probably that (it would be easy to add a column to the UT spreadsheet of positions/interview and see if that decreases by date), but also partly the quality of candidate that the firm feels they'll be able to get. As in "Well, this person's great, but they're obviously BB/NRF/VE-bound." It's a form of yield protection, not from a standpoint of "we have to protect our yield numbers" like with law schools but more of "why waste our time; they won't work here anyway."Hikikomorist wrote:I think it might also be because most of the firms with large class sizes were on the first two days.Anonymous User wrote:Yep.
