New anon. Also 8 CBs, five of which are Chicago. One email ding and the rest radio silence.

Know of at least one Jenner Chicago CB (not me).

3 CBs, 1 email ding. I know some others have made callbacks (which I didn't get). I haven't heard of any movement for about 4 firms.

2016 alum here. I've never been a fan of the "don't tell people about cbs on this thread" which gets thrown around. I think it can be valuable to say when firms start giving callbacks or if they offered some sort of dinner that night to people. However, I don't see the value in saying "I have x number of callbacks" other than making other people feel shitty.

I agree. I don't see how this kind of information is helpful to anyone. A note to the downtrodden: obviously people who've excelled in this cycle will eagerly post their results at this stage. The vast majority of students aren't sitting on 5+ CBs. Just think about who exactly is incentivized to share their progress (even anonymously).

Focus on sharing if firms have begun extending CBs or when firms have begun sending formal dings.

Anyone know the interviewer initials for the Jenner CB? Also, what's the likelihood of getting a CB if on the wait list (no email ding/no CB even though they were extended)?

To 2017+ students/alum: do firms release CBs only within a few days or is it possible to get a call a week later than someone else?

Is there a general callback --> offer rate? Is it different by market?

First to the above post re: cb timing. Generally, NY firms are same day, other firms might be a day or two later, some even a week, especially Chicago. That said, even some NY firms took 2 days before calling me for a cb a few years ago. As an SA at my firm recruiting actually asked if people wanted cb offers ASAP or if calls late/on the weekend were off putting so timing is something that changes based on the view of the answer to that question. Don't give up hope if it's not immediately, especially since many non Chicago firms send these interviewing attorneys to like 3 cities over 6 days so they might not get to you immediately.

As for offer rate, there's generally little data that isn't anecdotal. I'm not sure beyond the NY market. To take two extreme examples, some firms are known for it being more of a formality (s+c) and others are more grueling (cravath). All depends. For larger firms, there are typically firm/city specific threads on tls that you can read to get a sense of the process at those firms, and they might provide more insight. However it ultimately doesn't matter. I understand you probably want peace of mind but until you get the first offer, work hard and push and this data point can't really change how you prep. Anything can happen even if it's supposed to be automatic. Think about what you can control rather than worrying about stats and averages.

I think 50 % tends to be about average. But there's a lot of variance between people in that.

Got a Latham (CHI) ding the other day, so I think CBs went out. Do firms have a waitlist? If dings and CBs have gone out and you got neither, are you on the maybe list or what?

Also, anyone hear from Sidley CHI today? Still holding out hope.

Almost always as long as you're not super weird at the dinner and don't get too drunk.
