Isn't the position an SK-11 according to USAJobs? This amount doesn't make sense, even with the locality pay. What have the people who have received offers been told?Anonymous User wrote:Historically they've been 95kAnonymous User wrote:Does anyone know the starting salaries for DC?

This may provide more clarity on the salary question: http://www.sec.gov/jobs/acpfaq.htm

SK-11 in DC ranges from 72k to 120k. There is nothing that mandates that new attorneys start at the lowest part of the range.Anonymous User wrote:Isn't the position an SK-11 according to USAJobs? Any updates?
To the people with offers (or to the people who know of other people with offers), are you going to accept? Did you receive any paperwork? If so, what is the salary approximtaely?

I had a friend reject an offer to do DOJ instead. So, at least anecdotally, there might be people making similar decisions and holding offers. Otherwise you would think they would inform non-finalists pretty quickly unless they're a callous, independent government agency.

Is it illogical to assume that these positions could/will last 10 years?

Re: SEC Chair's Attorney Honors Program
Why would that be illogical? They're not going to want to get rid of you for some random person they don't know after they've spent a lot of money training you and worked with you for 2 years--unless you're a poor performer. These position aren't clerkships, they're designed to be converted to permanent jobs. You're taking up a real attorney slot at the SEC; that's a big deal for the agency. However, since nobody knows what will happen even a few years from now (maybe you'll hate the job or have an opportunity to go somewhere else), your plans will obviously change as you go.Anonymous User wrote:Is it illogical to assume that these positions could/will last 10 years?

Rejected from SEC and instead got reffered (offered) to a DOJ position? never heard of that, sound interesting. Was he a Judicial law clerk?Anonymous User wrote:I had a friend reject an offer to do DOJ instead. So, at least anecdotally, there might be people making similar decisions and holding offers. bump. It seems like people who recieved offers are relecutant to give out details or the agency has not initiated this process yet (or informed the people who got offers on salary, paper work, start time etc)Anonymous User wrote:Any updates?

I'm guessing this meant he turned down an offer from the SEC and accepted an offer from DOJ that he had separately applied for.Anonymous User wrote:Rejected from SEC and instead got reffered (offered) to a DOJ position? never heard of that, sound interesting. I have a third round interview scheduled in a few weeks. They're definitely not done yet.Anonymous User wrote:I had a friend reject an offer to do DOJ instead. Re: SEC Chair's Attorney Honors Program
You have to realize there are many different divisions interviewing and are on different time tables. Also, some of the divisions have more slots than others. So while some divisions maybe done, some are still interviewing. Also, once offers are out, the agency still has to wait until the recipients of the offers accept (i.e. they don't want to reject their runnerups yet). In addition, until the budget for 2015 is passed, I am sure there are still some divisions waiting to see if they will have funding for x additional amount of slots and are probably waiting until that fiasco is settled. Also, you are dealing with a government agency and their time table is super slow when it comes to the hiring process generally speaking. Lastly, this is the first year of the program so the staff is figuring this out as they go. So there are many different moving parts to this, which probably explains the lack of consensus/predictability on the status of apps to this program.

When you say third round, is this the actual third interview? Or did you have an initial pre-interview phone call followed by an interview?Anonymous User wrote:I have a third round interview scheduled in a few weeks. Re: SEC Chair's Attorney Honors Program
I never got the pre-interview call. I got a "surprise" phone interview call, then an in-person interview, and the third one is another in-person. Should note that this is not for the DC office.Anonymous User wrote:When you say third round, is this the actual third interview? Based on this thread, it appears Enforcement and Corp Fin extended interview invites before the other divisions. So it is not surprising they made offers before the others as well.

I interviewed with enforcement and I have not gotten an offer yet. So I don't think that office has extended offers. I think IM has.

Re: SEC Chair's Attorney Honors Program
My interview went well. I'm also top 5% of my law school and I was coming out of a clerkship. I could be a little confident - but I would think I would have heard something right now if enforcement had extended offers. If offers have been extended (according to this thread) I would think it would be IM.Anonymous User wrote:What makes you think IM has?Anonymous User wrote:I interviewed with enforcement and I have not gotten an offer yet. Complete guess though. Also, I don't mean to be a a doosh by posting that. Just my two cents.
