What are your thoughts on the office?
I'm assuming you mean internship offer, yes? I've moved at lightning speed so far, and am in between 2nd and 3rd rounds with that office at the moment. I would be shocked if you said for FT employment. I've heard that they're moving fast, but...

In other news, how are people doing with regard to Queens and the Bronx? I had 1st rounds with them a few weeks ago but haven't heard back. I'm moving along with Manhattan and Brooklyn, but don't think I can call Queens and the Bronx up with "hey, what's up?" because I can't in good faith tell them they are 1st choices. That said, still want a jerb, and thought my 1st rounds with them went fine. Any insight here?

$37,500

The legislature pretty much disregarded the "Blue Ribbon Panel" on DA and PD Salaries (which had recommended an immediate bump of all line ADAs to $50k). They did make some additional funds available to pay ADAs more, but it was a paltry sum that if split evenly works out to about a $700 raise for every ADA.

The DAs themselves got big raises though. As did judges last year, from $130k to $160k. Though, admittedly MA had some of the lowest paid judges in the country.
JFC, that is revolting. I'm assuming CPCS pay is similarly low?

Is it typical to be asked "political" questions at interviews? For instance, what are your thoughts on the death penalty, war on drugs, etc. I am def. more on the PD side in that regard!

I've never received a "political" question in any interview, internships or permanent position. Occasionally gotten close to the drugs question in hypos that have a drug possession component, but even then it was more about the search that found the drugs and disclosure obligations.

I've also had 1st rounds with Bronx and Queens.

Had 1st and 2nd with Brooklyn and have the 2nd scheduled with Manhattan.

Does Nassau have a residency requirement?

Important: this third round interview with ms Fernandez rundle is not simply a formality like some people believe. It counts. She will ask you personal questions, some that I felt were kinda inappropriate because they kind of touched on your political beliefs, but answer honestly. Hint: she is a democrat. So when she asks you if you're for or against the death penalty, say "i am against it except in the most extreme cases."
His was miami SAO. I was also asked what my thoughts are on legalizing marijuana, what I think about life sentences without parole, who my favorite Supreme Court justice, who is not my favorite.

Not long at all (all my 1st rounds were in September). I told them when I'd gotten a 2nd round elsewhere and they called me back shortly after to schedule the 2nd round with them.

As a general rule, prosecution offices don't look negatively at prior public defender experience.

Did you do two interviews or one? They interviewed at my school a few weeks ago and the interviewer didn't know if a second interview is required. How long did it take you to hear from them?

This is for their 2L summer internship by the way. But yea, I interviewed only once at oci, and they told me they didnt need me to come back about 2 or 3 weeks later. I then waited about a month for the offer, which I got a couple weeks ago. So if they are telling you they don't need another interview, its a good thing likely, but I don't know what they said to you because you said that the interviewer was unsure if they needed the interview? They were pretty adamant that they did not want to waste my time by coming up there again but I also live pretty far away. Either way, I waited a little while for it, so I think you are in good shape

They shouldn't care. The NYC Office I work at has a few deputy bureau chiefs and bureau chiefs that were former Legal Aid.

ETA: be ready to explain why you did PD and why you want to do DA now, though.

Thanks. Wow, interesting how by contrast the defense side is so against DA experience or even civil/non-legal victim advocacy.
