LOL at genova burns. That's the slimy "boiler room" that produced Pete Cammarano, who was mayor of Hoboken for all of 3 weeks before getting nailed by the Feds for taking bribes:

Look at some of the FBI wiretap transcripts, it's LOL-worthy, there are clips where he says "hopefully I'll never have to practice law again" and things like that. Genova sucks.

The fact that they actually hire out of Seton Hall is also LOL-worthy. Most legit firms wouldn't hire a janitor who went to Seton Hall, much less an associate.

How did Jesery turn out this year over all? I go to one of the jersey schools and I only know a handful of offers, most of them from NY Biglaw. Seems like Jersey firms didn't take many people from NJ schools this year. Because the market sucks, they were able to get a lot more people from T-14 schools. One of the partners from a Jersey firm told me they had kids from Stanford apply for SA spots this year. Students from NJ, who can usually count on at least half of the SA slots, seem to have gotten hit really hard.

You'll be able to see the result over the summer when the NJ Law Journal SA edition comes out. The truth is, NJ firms cut their classes (some completely), so the people that get BigLaw get it either in NYC or Philadelphia (with a few scattered at places like Lowenstein and MDMC which take decent-sized classes).

You sound really bitter. How is your employment situation? One "bad press" situation about the firm, which actually is a reflection of that individual rather than the firm, is not really significant. Bad press situation can be dredged up for most (all) firms, many I guarantee being far "worse" than this.

You poor things. Hope you get some type of summer job. You can always intern in one of the NJ offices for free (think prosecutor's office, AG, etc).
So glad I passed up that Rutgers scholly and went to the T14. Now I have big law in nyc.

womp womp. it goes the other way too dude, not everyone can just get "big law in nyc" no matter what school they go to. i took CCN over fordham $$$$ and i've gotten some good WE, but really regret not taking fordham sometimes, considering how everything has gone for me. debt is very real, and your advice is not helpful. remember when you're researching writing assignments no one will ever read at 11pm on a friday night that someone with your "Rutgers scholly" got out at 6pm and doesn't have a $3000 loan payment to make that month.

They didn't have one last year either. Like I said earlier ITT, a lot of NJ firms are only hiring laterals/clerks now.
