Re: 2012 3L Gov Honors Programs
Re: HUD interview stats -- I'm top 25% at a school hovering in the 40-50s, with a publication, district court internship, lots of public interest housing experience, CALI in related class, and a writing sample that was a filed and argued motion/memo on a HUD-related housing issue. I didn't really expect to get an interview, and would be surprised to get an offer, just bc of my school.

DOE called those they were interested in interviewing and asked if they were still interested. They offered interviews out of the group that was still interested.

Calls were made before Thanksgiving, so I imagine they are interviewing now.

They sent an email.gulcregret wrote:For those who have heard from HUD, how did you hear?
If you don't mind, could you share grades/schools, experience. I did some housing law both summers and an internship but have yet to hear anything.
I'm top 20% at school ranked in the 50s. Law review, article soon-to-be-published. No housing experience at all, actually, but lots of public interest experience and an internship at another federal agency.
I think they probably sent out all interview offers at the same time, because my friend got the email the same time I did. Also, interviews need to be wrapped up by the 16th.

I got a call for an interview with HUD today. I'm in the Atlanta region. I'm in the top 5% at decent state school, worked at Ed the past two summers, and on Law Review.

I got a call and email today as well (D.C.). Top 50% at a top 14 school, secondary journal, several government internships but no housing experience.

Anyone hear from the CFPB? I had a first-round interview two weeks ago but have not heard from them.
I am assuming it's a ding at this point.

I wonder if 90% of these agencies will ever bother rejecting people.

T50, top 2%, LR, federal financial services experience. Not getting my hopes up because I'm sure the applicant pool is full of good people from better law schools.Anonymous User wrote:Do you mind sharing stats? They claimed to not be interviewing THAT many people. They also said they hoped to have the process wrapped up by the second week of December, but were unsure because it's a new agency/program.

Re: 2012 3L Gov Honors Programs
Top 50% of my class, moot court, currently working for a local municipality on a HUD related grant, trial experience ( I've appeared on the record 57 times), soon to be published internationally, and my boss is a former HUD legal scholar. I received a phone call today for an interview. Does anyone know how many interviews were extended?

It depends on region. My source tells me 35-40 interviews just in D.C.

Re: 2012 3L Gov Honors Programs
Do you mean 35-40 interviews slotted for for students living in DC or to the total positions at HQ?
The program will likely have around 10 people this year so it would seem a little inefficient for the agency to interview such an extraordinarily large amount of candidates ...

I believe students living in D.C. (this is second-hand information, but from a pretty reliable source). Does the program as a whole intend to hire only 10 people?

DOI has hired 4 each year since the program started back up a few years ago.
Has anyone been contacted for an interview yet?

They contacted me last week to set up a phone interview. I think they are trying to get their interviews done this week.

According to the handbook "3-5 positions" for 2012. It says that for 2011, 4 were hired out of 700+ applicants.Anonymous User wrote:Anyone know how many people DOI Solicitor plans to hire?

Thanks! Is there anyone else who hasn't gotten a ding or an interview offer from DOI? I suppose I'll have to scratch it off the list...
