Guess I'll bump this since it's COB now. I'll also throw out DWV and MDPA if anyone here actually applied to those or knows of anyone else who did.Anonymous User wrote:Anybody hear from EDVA/WDVA/DMD?

Actually in the judiciary, 6 is the close of business, often. Though not so much on Fridays. Of course, the West is still quite open for business.Anonymous User wrote:So it's COB. I assume everyone is done with calls?

Anyone know if Griffith (DC Cir) is already hired for '12? Is he making calls for '13?

Can someone please put me out of my misery and tell me if they've heard from the N.D. Ill.? specifically, Judges Kennelly, St. Eve, Kendall, Holderman, and Zagel?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Call from Judge Snyder in C.D. Cal shortly before lunchtime. Given the competitiveness I'm pretty happy to have even gotten one invitation.

Why would it ok to parlay a no response but not ok to ask to be considered for 2013 when you are told you "just missed"? Just wondering the thought process?

I think he's referring to, e.g., those that already have at least one interview with a DC Circuit judge and should be calling all the other judges' chambers in that same Circuit to see if they'll interview while that given candidate is in town.Anonymous User wrote:Why would it ok to parlay a no response but not ok to ask to be considered for 2013 when you are told you "just missed"? Re: On Plan Clerkships 2011
So is it time to call it quits, or if we haven't seen someone mentioned, we should keep hope alive that they're in the 5-10% of judges who don't all call in accordance with the plan?

Whether or not you see someone mentioned is an indicator of nothing. I mean, it means there's an 8% chance, I suppose, that he hasn't called yet, rather than a 5% chance. Or some small increase over 5%. But really, it doesn't show anything. TLS ≠ the world. That said, there is, of course, a chance that a given judge hasn't called, and when I parlayed in Philly, I heard from some judges' assistants that their bosses hadn't called yet.

Just think of the 15% of judges who could care less about the Yale/Stanford/Chicago frenzy.
At the very least, it makes for a good source of positive thinking.

Re: On Plan Clerkships 2011
I guess I'm just looking for some hope to cling on to. I have one COA interview, but I am not a particularly good interviewer -- I can be hit or miss. If I had the stats for a COA interview (received out of the blue, no connections, etc.), I guess I was hoping for a district court interview somewhere.
The other frustrating thing is that my recommenders have been making calls since the summer to judges that they know, but none of those connections came through in the end. I guess it's the hyper-competitive nature of the process, and I know numerous applicants have multiple recommenders calling for them, but it doesn't alleviate the frustration re: the process.
Anyways, no point in thinking about this any longer. Guess I should just focus on knocking this interview out of the park next week.

I'm with you. My recommender made calls on my behalf - one in particular to a judge that she said he was my first choice - and nada. She had gotten others offers by this judge in previous years so it really bums me out.Anonymous User wrote:I guess I'm just looking for some hope to cling on to. Re: On Plan Clerkships 2011
Because I was busy trying to work out one parlay today, COB came before I could do others. Do you think it's worth it to call a couple more judges on Monday to ask about interviews on Friday?
Also, what have you, or others, seen about success with parlays?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
