For those tracking DC, I got dings last week from Jenner & Block DC (Thursday via email) and Jones Day DC (Friday via email).

I agree that this does not seem to be all about Hs. I have 8Hs and I have only gotten 4 CBs at this point. And I don't think I'm a wacky weirdo, though I suppose most wacky weirdos don't realize that they are wacky weirdos. I did focus on DC, however, so maybe I'll get some good news, if slowly.Anonymous User wrote:As someone with 6 Hs and only 1 CB, I wish this were true...Anonymous User wrote:best advice I can give to Harvard 1L's is study your butt off, nobody cares about personality only H's!
My advice to 1Ls would be to focus on NY. I'm batting 1000 on that so far (though there are a couple I haven't heard back from, and are likely rejections).
Good luck to all.

Yeah, it definitely seems like bidding on NY is TCR. From what I've heard from friends, DC and Chicago in particular seem really tough to break into this year.Anonymous User wrote:I agree that this does not seem to be all about Hs. 8 Hs, 4 CB (every NYC firm I talked to, none of the DC).

This seems unusual. Did you only bid on a select few NYC firms? Bad interviews?Anonymous User wrote:8 Hs, 4 CB (every NYC firm I talked to, none of the DC).

25 interviews, 3 CBs, 0 dings. WTF? And at a lot of NYC firms that seem to have responded quickly elsewhere.

Re: Harvard Law School EIP 2010 Callback Thread
I have only 2 callbacks so far, both in NY. I interviewed at 18 DC firms, and have gotten no callbacks in DC. 7Hs. Interviews seemed to go really well. WTF.

Arnold and Porter "hold" (?) email is very badly worded. I could even read it as a CB, if I really wanted to.

Did everyone get that Arnold and Porter email? Does it list the same callback date for everyone?

8Hs here: Got the Arnold & Porter email. Agree that it could be read as CB invitation.
Anyone heard from O'Melveny (DC) or Covington (DC)?
I really think that, if you have like 6+ Hs, and you interview at 20 DC firms, and you don't spend your interviews picking at pieces of spinach on your teeth, you ought to get callbacks from at least a couple places. But maybe this is just wishful thinking on my part.

To the poster above I don't know if you realize this but there are at least 200 people with 1 H and 9 P's or Straight P's or worse so use your logical reasoning skills and figure that the bottom half is struggling, I'm talking to the top 1/3rd person with 8 CB

Sure, the bottom half is struggling, but that would have been the case in most economies. My point was that you can still do quite well even if you didn't kill yourself studying first year, like some people seem to be suggesting.Anonymous User wrote:To the poster above I don't know if you realize this but there are at least 200 people with 1 H and 9 P's or Straight P's or worse so use your logical reasoning skills and figure that the bottom half is struggling, I'm talking to the top 1/3rd person with 8 CB
I may even be lower than top 1/3rd -- definitely not much higher.

Re: Harvard Law School EIP 2010 Callback Thread
My "CB" date for Arnold Porter that they'll let me know about on Fri is Thurs PM of flyout week.
I'm guessing it's a "save the date, in case we decide to accept you." Seems odd that they're doing all CBs at same time though?

Jones Day DC ding by snail mail (don't know why they sent it that way - wasteful of trees, resources, time...). 5 H's.

Congrats on K&E, really an all around safe firm economically that does great work, especially in Chicago.
