it seems strange to spend money on people you never plan to see again, but maybe they had to use all their recruiting budget and had to use it all up

they told us they do it every year, so I'm sure there's some reason behind it

Offers weren't made. I had the impression decisions had been made.

They probably do it as an investment, so that people who will be big a decade from now will always remember Schulte. I, for one, always have a favorable impression on hospitable firms than those that skimp.

do they really think future power players are going to remember some dinner 10 years ago?

It's not necessarily "remembering 10 years from now" but leaving a positive impression on 30+ attorneys just by holding a dinner. It's a way to differentiate from other similar firms' recruiting.

I know at least a few people there who had offers from other firms already. I would guess, maybe, 30% already. But, that's just a wild guess, on my part.

Plus, this dinner isn't a HUMONGOUS cost for them.

GDC NY offers are going out.

Prefer not to say exactly when I interviewed since there were only a few people in the office, but interviewed earlier this week and got the offer by phone one day after the interview.

Why don't you just say the firm? What evil could possibly result from you naming the firm?

I don't understand the point of posting anonymously or the point of Top Law Schools if you just post things like "Well I got an offer from a firm. Can't tell you who. Hope that helps!"

I think the point he's trying to make is that firms are now giving offers. We didn't know that at all prior to his post.
