If you haven't heard from a firm that sent out official rejections AND callbacks, is it safe to assume that I'm still in the running? (Sorry but I don't think this is the same question as above)

I'm waiting 'til Monday or Tuesday to assume that, since sometimes mail in New York can take a few days and rejections are traditionally sent by snail mail rather than e-mail.

If we didn't get the snail mail rejection from HH, what does that mean? Slow mail? Have people gotten CBs from them, yet?

But don’t firms keep back-up lists? UVa’s Career Services office, quoted in that other thread, seems to think so.

Any speculation on how offer/callback ratios will be compared to last year? Last year, it was around 40% on average, with some firms as low as 10% and others as high as 80%.

This is a total guess, but I think that like everything else this EIP season, the answer is "slightly better but still not great."

I don't think we're going back to the good old days when callback-->offer ratios were upwards of 66%, but I think they will improve. If anything, hopefully there will be fewer firms recruiting basically for show (i.e., <20% callback-->offer ratios).

if you have a pre-existing relationship with the interviewer, I've heard that they will switch it for you / find someone else to interview you. Otherwise I'm not really sure why you'd want to do that (unless you want to switch offices, in which case I don't think you can do it but you might be able to suggest that to the interviewer that you do end up with, at some risk...)
