Had a callback at my top choice firm over 6 weeks ago, just got an e-mail saying that they are still doing interviews, but that I should be hearing back soon...

Not sure if anyone knows the answer to this, but do firms typically interview all candidates over the course of X weeks, regardless of how well the early interviews go? Or do they typically decide right after you leave, and essentially put you in a yes/no/maybe pile.

I guess I'm just trying to gauge why they are still interviewing people, yet still holding on to me as a candidate. 6 weeks seems like a long time, and my hopes of getting an offer are shrinking. At this point, I think I would rather have a ding than be waiting like this.

Fwiw someone at Weil told me that the hiring partner has been out of the office and is returning tomorrow. So people may hear something by the end of the week.

Sidley does not hire 1Ls anymore.

I interviewed w/ Sidley (non-Chicago office) so...

Which office? New York?

Also, can anybody else confirm Sidley CHI not hiring?

haha yes, we probably go to the same school. i was told that they had 80 interviews for that slot.
