Re: 1L Summer Job Search C/O 2017
When do 1L SA's typically start? I locked up an internship with a judge at the SSC of MO, and my interview went well enough that he basically said I can work as long as I want (and that he'd like me to work for him during the school year) and that I should try to lock something up that's paid for the rest of the summer and work for him for May.
Do SA's typically start in June? (So I'd have time to do both?) how do I research that? Also is that something I should bring up in an SA interview to show I have ties? (I know STL is very insular)
Thanks!

Every SA position I interviewed for had a start date of May 18th or May 25th. The overwhelming majority were May 18th.Anonymous User wrote:When do 1L SA's typically start? You could try:Anonymous User wrote:Is there any place I can go to check that out? I haven't found anything
1) looking at the summer associate webpages on the firm's profile
2) calling the firm and asking (I don't think they mind at all)
3) emailing one of the lower level hiring coordinators and asking
4) looking on the NALP Directory factsheet (on rare occasions, they list the dates)

Typically May but several law firms have different start dates into June. Your offer letter would detail those dates.Anonymous User wrote:When do 1L SA's typically start? Thanks everyone!
So assuming the jobs I apply for start in June, should i bring up the SSC internship in May to establish ties?

Re: 1L Summer Job Search C/O 2017
I remember seeing a thread floating around somewhere about how to best fill out a W4 to ensure that you're not being taxed at a rate that assumes you're making money year-round, thereby ensuring you get to take-home as much pay as possible without owing a ton in April. Anyone have a link to it? I'm having trouble finding it.
