Control what you can control. Breathe a little. Think carefully about your interview style over the weekend to make sure you're in that 50-60%. And in case you're not, start mass mailing now.

For people who scheduled a DPW CB via their online system, how quickly did you get a confirmation? I just realized that I scheduled an interview for Monday, but never got a confirmation email and now I can't get back into the reservation website.

Is it ok to say no to lunch for a callback when they ask you whether you'd like to or not?

What possible reason could you have for saying no? If this is a firm you like, sit down for an hour, eat a free lunch at a good restaurant, and chat.

Reasons for not going to the lunch: you're not really sure you like the people there but you really want the paycheck

The lunch isn't just a random add on to the end of the interviews. It is another interview. From my understanding, at many firms those people fill out reviews as well. It's another opportunity to get to know people and put a good (and different) foot forward. If the paycheck is what you're after, going to the lunch is still your best bet.

Not only do I agree with txdude on this, but if your attitude is that you don't care about the people you'll be spending 60-80 hrs/week with for at least a couple years, you're going to wind up as one of those miserable bank envy juniors looking to ride the attrition wave. It's important to at least tolerate the people you work with.

Caveats being, a few attorneys do not provide a statistically relevant sampling, and not doing lunch certainly won't hurt your chances - the large class size NY firms running 30 interviews a day couldn't even field the associate manpower take every student to lunch if they wanted to.

I didn't get one either, but I was pretty sure I scheduled mine for Monday, so I called. If you can't get back into their system, I think chances are that you're scheduled and you'll get information on Sunday.

To me this is a reason not to go to lunch—the people you eat with can't change a no-offer to an offer, but they can definitely do the reverse. Original anon can figure out if they like the people by doing a second look. Heck, even if you know you love the people, do a second look. Confirms it, you get introduced to some people you'll be working with, and you get food sans interview.

Is it normal that i still haven't heard anything from ~half my screeners? I'm obviously pessimistic about the silence, but curious if others were in a similar situation.

Same here, 9 callbacks, 2 dings, 10 grasshoppers (most of whom have already sent out at least some CBs). Hoping a couple more will come through, but I'm going forward assuming those are all dings and being happy with the CBs I have.

I know a couple friends in a similar situation. I have heard back from all 20 of mine (callbacks or dings). NYC.

On that subject, anyone received dings from: Kirkland, Akin, White & Case, Cadwalader, or MoFo?

I haven't heard from 4 of my NY firms. Has anyone heard anything (CB OR ding) from Weil TN, Deb JL, or S&C SK? Two of those three referred to seeing me again but radio silence since.

At this point, most likely dings. Sorry. Also, things like "see you soon" don't mean anything. Just formality based on my experience.

I'm in the exact same boat. I only have 2 callbacks, both this upcoming week. I called OCS on Thursday. Marsha told me not to worry about mass-mailing until at least after the callbacks. She said to spend the time between now and then focusing on preparing for the interviews, not worrying about other firms. She also said that some firms take as long as 3 weeks after EIP to give out callbacks (Petal told me the same number when I asked during EIP). The implication there seemed to be not to start mass-mailing for 3 weeks (I guess 2 now), but if I haven't heard anything by Thursday or Friday I'm going to call OCS again and ask how to effectively go about mass-mailing.

I'm at 11 cb, 1 ding, 5 in limbo. Safe to expect the 5 I haven't heard for are dings, right ?

Maybe 1 or 2 are a soft ding pending how many callbacks are accepted. With 11 CBs, you're either a very strong candidate, or bid very well, so you're in a very good spot.

Has anyone received a Paul Hastings NY ding? I got that survey but no affirmative callback.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
