Because a 1L SA knows even less shit than a 2L SA.

I mean, maybe this is true. But I've asked a handful of partners about this, and they've all said that the only time they've noticed a difference in the quality of work between a 2L and a 1L SA is if the 2L actually worked as an SA the previous summer, and even then the gap closes quickly.

+1 absolutely no one at my 1L firm knew, or cared, that I was a 1L. Corrected them many times around the end of the summer

You guys ought to stop piling on. I get it, it's TLS, that's what we do, but this entire thing is absurd. I'm also a 1L, and my firm extended my summer by seven weeks, precisely because they were billing enough of my hours to clients to justify it. So Meph is right. When the partners told me this, they also told me that they do not bill the overwhelming majority of SA hours because clients would never stand for it. So the rest of you are right.

But, you know, if you all just have to back-and-forth this bullshit, by all means...
