Chill. I applied around the same time and didn't hear back until February. It's going to be a minute. Just keep updating them with your acceptances. My memory is a bit fuzzy, but I'm pretty sure they multiple rounds of interviews. Even if you weren't in this batch, there's nothing to say you won't get a call in a month or two.

I see you're in at Harvard. Um...you're fine (but..y'know, Stanford is cool, too). I'd start working on your interview skills.
AssumptionRequired wrote: Does anyone know how disadvantaged you are if you are not URM? I have decided to defer for a year, so i will not be applying till next year around this time. But i dont want to get my hopes up as im white and barely broke the T14
Like...hispanic white? Brazilian, portuguese, etc? Mixed at all? I'm not trying to discourage you, but from what I could tell you're probably out of their target market. Now, there was a self-described white guy who was Brazilian or something like that. He made it. Barring that, no, it's probably not going to work out. Law firms use as a feeder to fit their diversity goals.
ArchRoark wrote: TBH, they should just come out and state that as their requirement, especially if they never do take anyone below T14. Then I could throw my hat in ring and frame my rejection letter. Does anyone have placement stats for Northwestern and/or Georgetown for SEO?
The thing is, they do take people outside of the t-14. UT and Vandy have been represented in the past. If they're expanding to the west coast, it's reasonable that UCLA and USC might make the cut, too.
lizzard209 wrote:Can any SEO CL alums give advice on the case interview portion? Anybody want to share his/her experience?
Sure, I don't think that would be breaking any rules. I'm not even sure if it's the same for everyone. I've been on a few interviews now that have used a similar method that SEO uses, so if you've ever done a case interview in some other field you're more than prepped. I was given a current news story that described a legal problem that a company was facing. My interviewer asked me to read the article and then offer solutions. They gave you as much time as you needed but it seemed as if they wanted a rather quick response. In my answer I attempted to come up with a current solution as well as policy prescriptions that could prevent similar occurrences. That all sounds pretty basic, I suppose. Just remember to do it - and be calm, thoughtful, and smiling when you do. I can get more specific if you like. I also do my best to answer PM's.

See the post about three posts above. Unless you got into Harvard you shouldnt expect to hear back right away and even then there is some wait time. A few people on tls have heard back. Just keep faxing your admissions letters and breathing.
Hmm. Thanks. I'll fax my admissions, though I'm ED so my cycle is over. I hope they like Chicago as well.

Does anyone know if they help you find housing for the course of your internship? I'm assuming it would be difficult to find somewhere to rent for just 10 weeks or so, but maybe somebody has experience with this?

They don't. They send you a spreadsheet of places that students have used before, but they don't find the housing for you.

Students of color who have a 3.0 GPA or above are eligible for the SEO program, with limited opportunities for students with F-1 visas (investment bank partners only). We have opportunities for every grade level. Any major is welcome.

But i believe that is not for the law program.

Someone please tell me that there are white people who have gotten this, i mean shouldnt that be illegal or something if they disadvantage whites like that? (please god dont turn this into an AA debate)
Its a minority program; there were a few people who appeared white but were minority students.

Question---Would I have much of a shot to get SEO w/ an acceptance to Univeristy of Illinois (UIUC) at #21. I don't know if that's the highest I'll get into but it is of now.

2 Yrs WE at Fortune 100 company.

Be brutally honest if you must.

Not certain, but I think that is for all the programs. And it wouldn't be illegal (also, if it were illegal, it would be illegal for both the law program and whatever other programs they have, not just for the law program).
SEO wrote:How We Started

SEO was founded in 1963 during the height of the modern Civil Rights Movement as a mentoring and college preparation program for underprivileged high school students in New York City. The organization's mission was based upon the conviction that all students can succeed when given access to opportunities.

As more and more of SEO’s students went on to college, SEO recognized that there was a need to advocate for increased opportunities for minorities in the corporate workforce. In 1980, the SEO Career Program was established to help high achieving underrepresented students of color reach their career goals by providing internships in some of our nation’s most challenging fields. Starting with Wall Street, the SEO Career Program began with 11 students placed at five investment banking firms. The Career Program now has more than 40 partners, offering hundreds of career-blazing summer internships in seven areas.
--LinkRemoved--
You are correct, but thats just messed up. I am just hoping someone will jump in and say that they know of white people recieving these positions lol. Probably wont happen though
This program helps minority students who are among the best of all students in the country. I cannot see a reason to quarrel with this unless you see something intrinsically wrong with such an idea.
Well, black people would be very angry if there was a program that explicitly stated that it's aimed at helping white people only.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
