Bonuses lie in the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and between the pit of man’s fears, and the summit of his knowledge.

This is close to my thoughts as well - "market" stays the same although they'd probably like to reduce. And a lot of firms will find sneaky ways to reduce bonuses even if they are marginally still market bonus firms.Desert Fox wrote:I actually think bonuses will just be flat. Cravath would have be pretty ballsy to lower bonuses in a decent year. They could justify a small reduction because this year isn't great. But that is a bad moral hit for a little amount of money. They can't really justify a large cut without risking their reputation long term and possibly being SHATTERED by everyone else.
But zero chance we get better bonuses.

Sad to see what this thread has become. Surely, when the day of NY->190k inevitably comes, the tiny partner in the sky will not see fit to reward such faithlessness.
