I heard it takes a coke n whore orgy to get no-offered there, if the stories are true.
I heard that bro hired his own security guys to escort him out of the building after he was fired by Latham. That must be the origin of this "they'll escort you out of the building after the no-offer" rumor.

Latham did literally invent Lathaming. They probably had a great year though so whatever.

Is it really that big of a deal if a V5 no offers someone? I'm sure even the V5's do it enough that there wouldn't be rumors of it ahead of time.

I would like that to not be true.

I imagine cold offers are much more common right now than actual no-offers.

Makes perfect sense. The firm gets to keep their 100% offer rate, and when looking for the new firm, the summer can honestly say that they recieved an offer.

The other variation is saying you get an offer, but would be assigned to a group you don't want to be in.
No, I mean, it makes sense... but it's ridiculous at the same time.

That pretty much summarizes how I feel about everything law school/career related since I took the LSAT.

I've heard firms stopped giving them out ITE because of people will actually accept.
maybe the law students were too aspie to understand it was a cold offer.

Or they didn't have anything else lined up. If you didn't sign up for 3L OCI, which already sucks, and you have a crappy cold offer from a V20, you are going to take it. Just cause it is easier after that.

So the partner I work mostly for makes his associates sit in the room with him while he edits their work, sometimes for hours. Same with writing emails, conference calls (instead of dialing in from associate's office). This seems fucking weird to me, and a huge waste of time. Is this normal?

No such thing as wasted billable time in this industry.
when I was a paralegal sometimes I got to bill for sitting in the room with a specific attorney and nodding and looking interested because sometimes he liked to talk things through and just needed a human there to say "uh huh"

Christ lawyers are the worst. I continually underestimate the depth of how stupid this is.

This kind of thing--a senior professional wanting junior professionals around while thinking/talking through a problem--is hardly unique to law.
